<dc:subject>read:2008 rating:2 book </dc:subject>
Charlotte Roche (2008) Feuchtgebiete.Dumont Buchverlag,

Product Description
In a marketplace where powerful international organizations and global corporations are under increasing pressure to appear conscientious about ethical issues in their production and distribution, Conscientious Objectives equips designers with the means to reflect this through brand and design.

Conscientious Objectives is an essential tool for the practicing designer on how to successfully facilitate ethical branding, production and distribution for clients. Through insightful professional advice and in-depth case studies, this book informs designers how to find the work, how to introduce the client to the issues and how to develop projects that are equally commercially viable and socially responsible.

Conscientious Objectives features an introductory essay by Steven Heller on the history of ethical design. This is followed by an overview of the practical considerations through analysis of current ethical projects--encompassing environmental graphics, inclusive design, packaging design, public information campaigns, alternative advertising and global branding projects--that demonstrate the process from brief through to user response.

<dc:subject>year:2004 englisch 11_JZPI_178 Jan-2008 book ethical_message socially_driven_design social_design </dc:subject>
John Cranmer and Yolanda Zappaterra (2004) Conscientious Objectives.RotoVision,

Holland: Amazon.co.uk: Books

"Branding for Nonprofits" provides the processes, tools and thinking needed to brand or rebrand. DK Holland's inspiring and demystifying approach helps nonprofits approach the process with confidence and enthusiasm. The book presents case studies that reveal real-life situations in which nonprofits have successfully created branding opportunities out of dilemmas and re-branded to create a distinctive clear identity that furthers their mission and helps stabilize their programs. This book features four-page interviews with six non-profit groups explaining the impact of re-branding. In a chronological order it shows nonprofits how to proceed at each stage of branding. Each chapter contains charts, photos or other visuals to support the text. Aimed at managers of small & mid-size nonprofits; graphic designers, art directors, educators, this book addresses the indirect connection between branding and fund raising. For-profit American businesses invest millions in branding; most successful nonprofits lack the resources and wherewithal to hire a brand expert even though they know they need to rebrand. Author brings over 30 years of experience in branding; her company, DK Holland, LLC works with an impressive list of non-profit organizations. Author teaches graduate non-profit management; an editor of "Communications Arts magazine", which she is in the process of rebranding.

<dc:subject>englisch non-profit_organisation marketing Jan-2008 branding book brand year:2006 </dc:subject>
D.K. Holland (2006) Branding for Nonprofits.Allworth Press,U.S.,

With the world's economy in a slump and the ongoing war on terrorism, there is a heightened awareness in the world community of the numerous issues that both directly and indirectly affect our lives. Increasingly, people are feeling powerless and excluded because they have no voice. Designers, however, do have a voice. They are among the most influential bystanders because their skills enable them to communicate a message easily through the internet or through posters and print. A picture is worth a thousand words, and designers have used this adage to their advantage for years by creating simple, yet powerful designs that immediately convey the message to the viewer. "The Design of Dissent" focuses on graphic work that designers have made as a result of social and political concerns. The timing is certainly ripe as the world flares up in opposition on so many important issues, and the work featured in the book will both confront these issues and inspire the reader.

<dc:subject>englisch 11_JZPJ_209 Jan-2008 book political_graphics year:2006 socially_driven_design social_graphics </dc:subject>
Milton Glaser (2006) The Design of Dissent: Socially and Politically Driven Graphics.Rockport Publishers Inc,

Some of today's most articulate designers explore what it means to be a designer in a corporate-driven, over-branded global consumer culture in this anthology. The book discusses design responsibility, with more than 70 debate-stirring essays and interviews espousing viewpoints ranging from the cultural and political to the professional and social. Edited by two prominent advocates of socially responsible design, the book responds to the tough questions that today's designers find themselves asking: how can I as designer effect social or political change? can design be more than a service to clients? at what point does a designer have to take responsibility for a client's actions? and at what point must a designer take a stand? The latest insights and opinions are offered on such issues as reality branding; game design and school violence; socially responsible advertising and exploitation; design as a vehicle for cause marketing; design as an environmental driving force; and much more. This book encourages designers and students of design to carefully research the clients they work with, be alert about corporate, political, and social developments, and design socially responsible products.

<dc:subject>year:2003 political_design englisch Jan-2008 book socially_driven_design </dc:subject>
(2003) Citizen Designer.Allworth Press,U.S.,

Yet the newsworthiness of design, this book argues, conceals an ignorance of the profession's values and ambitions - even among designers themselves. The author analyzes design's role within the consumer society and discusses what our obsession with it tells us about the present state of our own culture. The book is not anti-design, but rather anti-consumerist, in that it sets out to expose what many people would agree are the socially and ecologically unsound values on which the system of consumerist design is contructed. Whiteley reviews the implications for design of the Green movement, the growing impact of feminism, and the ideas of "socially responsible" designers. In doing so he prepares the ground for a more self-aware and just development of design.

<dc:subject>social_responsibility englisch year:1994 society Jan-2008 book social_design </dc:subject>
Nigel Whiteley (1994) Design for Society.Reaktion Books,

What is the responsibility of the graphic designer? Is it right to use good design to further evil in the world, merely for the sake of being a good designer? Without dictating a moral stance, Good: Ethics and Graphic Design explores the idea of "being good" and uses what-if scenarios to explore the ramifications of different business decisions. Author Lucienne Roberts draws readers into a debate about professional "goodness" versus personal "goodness" and the relationship between ethics and design practice.

<dc:subject>moral ethics Jan-2008 book graphic_design year:2006 </dc:subject>
Lucienne Roberts (2006) GOOD: an Introduction to Ethics in Graphic Design.AVA Publishing SA,

Detlef Pape and Rudolf Schwarz and Helmut Gillessen and Elmar Trunz-Carlisi (2007) Schlank im Schlaf: Die revolutionäre Formel: So nutzen Sie Ihre Bio-Uhr zum Abnehmen.Gräfe & Unzer,
