Current ontology alignment techniques, however, provide only limited value for such access as they consider little if any requirements from realistic use cases or application scenarios. In this paper, we focus on two real-world scenarios in a library context: thesaurus merging and book re-indexing. We identify their particular requirements and describe our approach of deploying and evaluating thesaurus alignment techniques in this context. We have applied our approach for the Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative, and report on the performance evaluation of participants’ tools wrt. the application scenario at hand. It shows that evaluations of tools requires significant effort, but when done carefully, brings many benefits.}, keywords = {alignment evaluation ontology ontology-alignment scenarios thesaurus usage } } @inproceedings{conf/esws/IsaacMMSWZ08, title = {Putting Ontology Alignment in Context: Usage Scenarios, Deployment and Evaluation in a Library Case.}, author = {Antoine Isaac and Henk Matthezing and Lourens van der Meij and Stefan Schlobach and Shenghui Wang and Claus Zinn}, booktitle = {ESWC}, crossref = {conf/esws/2008}, editor = {Sean Bechhofer and Manfred Hauswirth and Jörg Hoffmann and Manolis Koubarakis}, pages = {402-417}, publisher = {Springer}, series = {Lecture Notes in Computer Science}, url = {http://dblp.uni-trier.de/db/conf/esws/eswc2008.html#IsaacMMSWZ08}, volume = {5021}, year = {2008}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2cd82b4caf9ff08d48c9adeefad1bc4bb/dblp}, description = {dblp}, date = {2008-05-27}, ee = {http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-540-68234-9_31}, isbn = {978-3-540-68233-2}, keywords = {dblp } } @inproceedings{Schlobach03b, title = {Explanation of Terminological Reasoning: A Preliminary Report.}, author = {Stefan Schlobach and Ronald Cornet}, booktitle = {Description Logics}, crossref = {conf/dlog/2003}, editor = {Diego Calvanese and Giuseppe De Giacomo and Enrico Franconi}, publisher = {CEUR-WS.org}, series = {CEUR Workshop Proceedings}, url = {http://dblp.uni-trier.de/db/conf/dlog/dlog2003.html\#SchlobachC03}, volume = {81}, year = {2003}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2acb730498382a01abaf104d60391acec/marciomr}, description = {dblp}, date = {2004-02-17}, ee = {http://SunSITE.Informatik.RWTH-Aachen.de/Publications/CEUR-WS/Vol-81/schlobach.pdf}, keywords = {DLs debugging impresso } } @inproceedings{Schlobach03a, title = {Non-Standard Reasoning Services for the Debugging of Description Logic Terminologies.}, author = {Stefan Schlobach and Ronald Cornet}, booktitle = {IJCAI}, crossref = {ijcai2003}, editor = {Georg Gottlob and Toby Walsh}, pages = {355--362}, publisher = {Morgan Kaufmann}, url = {http://dblp.uni-trier.de/db/conf/ijcai/ijcai2003.html\#SchlobachC03}, year = {2003}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2e3db84386dd8c106f73dd4f5e99e95fd/marciomr}, description = {dblp}, bibsource = {DBLP, http://dblp.uni-trier.de}, date = {2004-05-05}, keywords = {DLs debugging impresso } } @inproceedings{Schlobach04, title = {Explaining Subsumption by Optimal Interpolation.}, author = {Stefan Schlobach}, booktitle = {JELIA}, crossref = {Jelia2004}, editor = {Jos{\'e} J{\'u}lio Alferes and Jo{\~a}o Alexandre Leite}, pages = {413--425}, publisher = {Springer}, series = {Lecture Notes in Computer Science}, url = {http://dblp.uni-trier.de/db/conf/jelia/jelia2004.html\#Schlobach04}, volume = {3229}, year = {2004}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/21b0c20bb5bb462a2e0c04c0c46df96d1/marciomr}, description = {dblp}, bibsource = {DBLP, http://dblp.uni-trier.de}, date = {2004-09-13}, ee = {http://springerlink.metapress.com/openurl.asp?genre=article\&issn=0302-9743\&volume=3229\&spage=413}, isbn = {3-540-23242-7}, keywords = {DLs debugging impresso } } @inproceedings{schlobach20505, title = {Debugging and Semantic Clarification by Pinpointing.}, author = {Stefan Schlobach}, booktitle = {ESWC}, crossref = {conf/esws/2005}, editor = {Asunción Gómez-Pérez and Jérôme Euzenat}, pages = {226-240}, publisher = {Springer}, series = {Lecture Notes in Computer Science}, url = {http://dblp.uni-trier.de/db/conf/esws/eswc2005.html#Schlobach05}, volume = {3532}, year = {2005}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/293d5e5838a3924e5ee34ca0f96e4bf8f/thau}, description = {dblp}, ee = {http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/11431053_16}, isbn = {3-540-26124-9}, date = {2005-05-24}, keywords = {ontology repair } } @inproceedings{ijcai2003, title = {Non-Standard Reasoning Services for the Debugging of Description Logic Terminologies}, author = {S. Using books annotated by concepts from two vocabularies which are to be aligned, we explore two statistically-grounded measures (Jaccard and LSA) to build conversion rules which aggregate similar concepts. Different ways of learning and deploying the multi-concept alignment are evaluated, which enables us to assess the usefulness of the approach for this scenario. This usefulness is low at the moment, but the experiment has given us the opportunity to learn some important lessons.}, keywords = {2007 alignment evaluation iswc multi-concept workshop_om } }
