The authors analyzed the small world network of the creative artists who made Broadway musicals from 1945 to 1989. Using original arguments, new statistical methods, and tests of construct validity, they found that the varying “small world” properties of the systemic level network of these artists affected their creativity in terms of the financial and artistic performance of the musicals they produced. The small world network effect was parabolic; performance increased up to a threshold, after which point the positive effects reversed.}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2e0743ca2e566e0a2745884f9a2189dbd/stumme}, keywords = {small smallworld world} } @inproceedings{hotho2006entstehen, title = {Das Entstehen von Semantik in BibSonomy}, address = {Baden-Baden}, author = {Andreas Hotho and Robert Jäschke and Christoph Schmitz and Gerd Stumme}, booktitle = {Social Software in der Wertschöpfung}, publisher = {Nomos}, year = 2006, url = {http://www.kde.cs.uni-kassel.de/stumme/papers/2006/hotho2006entstehen.pdf}, abstract = {Immer mehr Soziale-Lesezeichen-Systeme entstehen im heutigen Web. The increasing popularity of these systems as well as first insights into their emergent semantics have made them relevant to disciplines like knowledge extraction and ontology learning. The problem of devising methods to measure the semantic relatedness between tags and characterizing it semantically is still largely open. Here we analyze three measures of tag relatedness: tag co-occurrence, cosine similarity of co-occurrence distributions, and FolkRank, an adaptation of the PageRank algorithm to folksonomies. Each measure is computed on tags from a large-scale dataset crawled from the social bookmarking system del.icio.us. To provide a semantic grounding of our findings, a connection to WordNet (a semantic lexicon for the English language) is established by mapping tags into synonym sets of WordNet, and applying there well-known metrics of semantic similarity. Our results clearly expose different characteristics of the selected measures of relatedness, making them applicable to different subtasks of knowledge extraction such as synonym detection or discovery of concept hierarchies.}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/23b0aca61b24e4343bd80390614e3066e/stumme}, keywords = {systems web myown 2.0 folksonomy folksonomies collaborative tagging semantic 2008 web2.0} } @proceedings{themenheft2007webmining, title = {Themenheft Web Mining}, editor = {Andreas Hotho and Gerd Stumme}, journal = {Künstliche Intelligenz}, number = 3, pages = {5-8}, year = 2007, url = {http://www.kuenstliche-intelligenz.de/index.php?id=7758}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2e053389338dafde2946ec585bc35a48e/stumme}, keywords = {ir myown 2007 web mining ml ki introduction} } @article{themenheft2007webmining, title = {Mining the World Wide Web -- Methods, Ap- plications, and Perspectives}, author = {Andreas Hotho and Gerd Stumme}, journal = {Künstliche Intelligenz}, number = 3, pages = {5-8}, year = 2007, url = {http://www.kuenstliche-intelligenz.de/index.php?id=7758}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2e9535ec82afa53f44a1b37704aa9a71f/stumme}, keywords = {myown ki ml introduction 2007 web mining ir} } @inproceedings{grahl07conceptualKdml, title = {Conceptual Clustering of Social Bookmark Sites}, author = {Miranda Grahl and Andreas Hotho and Gerd Stumme}, booktitle = {Workshop Proceedings of Lernen - Wissensentdeckung - Adaptivität (LWA 2007)}, editor = {Alexander Hinneburg}, month = {sep}, pages = {50-54}, publisher = {Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg}, year = 2007, url = {http://www.kde.cs.uni-kassel.de/hotho/pub/2007/kdml_recommender_final.pdf}, isbn = {978-3-86010-907-6}, vgwort = {14}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/26d5188d66564fe4ed7386e28868504de/stumme}, keywords = {2007 tagorapub folksonomy myown tagging bookmark conceptual folksonomies bookmarking collaborative clustering social Social} } @article{peters08paradigmatic, title = {Paradigmatic and Syntagmatic Relations in Knowledge Organization Systems}, author = {Isabella Peters and Katrin Weller}, journal = {Information Wissenschaft und Praxis}, number = 2, pages = {100-107}, volume = 59, year = 2008, url = {http://wwwalt.phil-fak.uni-duesseldorf.de/infowiss/admin/public_dateien/files/35/1204555002peters013_.htm}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/27fab7108fc3cf9c3f7bc4e81846969f9/stumme}, keywords = {syntagms paradigms paradigmatic folksonomy folksonomies syntagmatic} } @article{Goldstein04powerlawfitV1, title = {Fitting to the power-law distribution}, author = {M. In this paper we present GALOIS, a system that automates and applies this theory. The algorithm utilized by GALOIS to build a concept lattice is incremental and efficient, each update being done in time at most quadratic in the number of objects in the lattice. Also, the algorithm may incorporate background information into the lattice, and through clustering, extend the scope of the theory. The application we present is concerned with information retrieval via browsing, for which we argue that concept lattices may represent major support structures. We describe a prototype user interface for browsing through the concept lattice of a document-term relation, possibly enriched with a thesaurus of terms. An experimental evaluation of the system performed on a medium-sized bibliographic database shows good retrieval performance and a significant improvement after the introduction of background knowledge.
