In such systems users describe bookmarks by keywords called tags. The structure behind these social systems, called folksonomies, can be viewed as a tripartite hypergraph of user, tag and resource nodes. This underlying network shows specific structural properties that explain its growth and the possibility of serendipitous exploration. Today’s search engines represent the gateway to retrieve information from the World Wide Web. Short queries typically consisting of two to three words describe a user’s information need. In response to the displayed results of the search engine, users click on the links of the result page as they expect the answer to be of relevance. This clickdata can be represented as a folksonomy in which queries are descriptions of clicked URLs. The resulting network structure, which we will term logsonomy is very similar to the one of folksonomies. In order to find out about its properties, we analyze the topological characteristics of the tripartite hypergraph of queries, users and bookmarks on a large snapshot of del.icio.us and on query logs of two large search engines. All of the three datasets show small world properties. The tagging behavior of users, which is explained by preferential attachment of the tags in social bookmark systems, is reflected in the distribution of single query words in search engines. We can conclude that the clicking behaviour of search engine users based on the displayed search results and the tagging behaviour of social bookmarking users is driven by similar dynamics.}, added-at = {2009-05-13T09:36:02.000+0200}, address = {New York, NY, USA}, author = {Krause, Beate and Jäschke, Robert and Hotho, Andreas and Stumme, Gerd}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2e64d14f3207766f4afc65983fa759ffe/nepomuk}, booktitle = {HT '08: Proceedings of the Nineteenth ACM Conference on Hypertext and Hypermedia}, doi = {http://doi.acm.org/10.1145/1379092.1379123}, interhash = {6d34ea1823d95b9dbf37d4db4d125d2a}, intrahash = {e64d14f3207766f4afc65983fa759ffe}, isbn = {978-1-59593-985-2}, keywords = {2008 analysis engine from:jaeschke information l3s logsonomy myown network retrieval search social wp5}, location = {Pittsburgh, PA, USA}, pages = {157--166}, publisher = {ACM}, timestamp = {2009-05-13T09:36:02.000+0200}, title = {Logsonomy - Social Information Retrieval with Logdata}, url = {http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=1379092.1379123&coll=ACM&dl=ACM&type=series&idx=SERIES399&part=series&WantType=Journals&title=Proceedings%20of%20the%20nineteenth%20ACM%20conference%20on%20Hypertext%20and%20hypermedia}, vgwort = {17}, year = 2008 } @article{DemartiniN08, abstract = {Expert retrieval has attracted deep attention because of the huge economical impact it can have on enterprises. Queries describe a user’s information need. In response to the displayed results of the search engine, users click on the links of the result page as they expect the answer to be of relevance. The clickdata can be represented as a folksonomy in which queries are descriptions of clicked URLs. This poster analyzes the topological characteristics of the resulting tripartite hypergraph of queries, users and bookmarks of two query logs and compares it two a snapshot of the folksonomy del.icio.us.}, added-at = {2008-06-20T14:39:26.000+0200}, author = {Jäschke, Robert and Krause, Beate and Hotho, Andreas and Stumme, Gerd}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2359e1eccdc524334d4a2ad51330f76ae/nepomuk}, booktitle = {Proceedings of the Second International Conference on Weblogs and Social Media(ICWSM 2008)}, interhash = {13ec3f45fc7e0364cdc6b9a7c12c5c2c}, intrahash = {359e1eccdc524334d4a2ad51330f76ae}, keywords = {2008 engine folksonomy from:jaeschke l3s logsonomy myown search wp5}, publisher = {AAAI Press}, timestamp = {2008-06-20T14:39:26.000+0200}, title = {Logsonomy — A Search Engine Folksonomy}, url = {http://www.kde.cs.uni-kassel.de/hotho/pub/2008/Krause2008logsonomy_short.pdf}, year = 2008 } @misc{sauermanntalksfi2008, added-at = {2008-06-18T21:26:52.000+0200}, author = {Sauermann, Leo}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/21b3fa80d200ccaa03278471518c1cc76/nepomuk}, description = {Leo Sauermann was invited to present slides about NEPOMUK at the Studecki Festiwal Informatyczny, an bigger event organized by polish students. http://www.sfi.org.pl/}, interhash = {96fcf2441c1c14e630e181ad5296aca7}, intrahash = {1b3fa80d200ccaa03278471518c1cc76}, keywords = {03 2008 dfki from:leobard lang:en nepomuk wp2}, month = {03}, note = {Leo Sauermann was invited to present slides about NEPOMUK at the Studecki Festiwal Informatyczny, an bigger event organized by polish students. http://www.sfi.org.pl/}, timestamp = {2008-06-18T21:26:52.000+0200}, title = {Presentation of NEPOMUK at Krakow Student Festival}, url = {http://leobard.twoday.net/20080307/}, year = 2008 } @inproceedings{Schumacher+2008search, abstract = {The Semantic Desktop is a means to support users in Personal Information Management (PIM). It provides an excellent test bed for Semantic Web technology: resources (e. g., persons, projects, messages, documents) are distributed amongst multiple systems, ontologies are used to link and annotate them. Finding information is a core element in PIM. For the end user, the search interface has to be intuitive to use, natural language queries provide a simple mean to express requests. State of the art semantic search engines focus on fact retrieval or on semantic document retrieval. We combine both approaches to search the Semantic Desktop exploiting all available information. Our semantic search engine, built on semantic teleporting and spreading activation, is able to answer natural language queries with facts, e. g., a specific phone number, and/or relevant documents. We evaluated our approach on ESWC 2007 data in comparison with Google site search.}, added-at = {2008-06-18T21:26:52.000+0200}, author = {Schuhmacher, Kinga and Sintek, Michael and Sauermann, Leo}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2d169dcb04daa8b91869a792a9248ff81/nepomuk}, booktitle = {Proc. of ESWC}, comment = {ISBN:978-3-540-68233-2}, doi = {10.1007/978-3-540-68234-9_42}, editor = {Bechhofer, Sean and Hauswirth, Manfred and Hoffmann, Jörg and Koubarakis, Manolis}, interhash = {a33fec4d197b7212c9bfa6801f478853}, intrahash = {d169dcb04daa8b91869a792a9248ff81}, keywords = {06 2008 dfki from:leobard imported lang:en wp2}, month = {June}, owner = {sauermann}, pages = {569-583}, pdf = {Schumacher+2008search.pdf}, publisher = {Springer}, timestamp = {2008-06-18T21:26:52.000+0200}, title = {Combining Metadata and Document Search with Spreading Activation for Semantic Desktop Search}, url = {http://www.springerlink.com/content/a6683407861281q2/}, year = 2008 } @misc{sauermanntalksnorway2008, abstract = {Presentation of case studies of successfull Semantic Web use, NEPOMUK is one of them.
