@article{EytanAdar.Volume47, abstract = {Weblogs link together in a complex structure through which new ideas and discourse can flow. Such a structure is ideal for the study of the propagation of information. In this paper we describe general categories of information epidemics and create a tool to infer and visualize the paths specific infections take through the network. This inference is based in part on a novel utilization of data describing historical, repeating patterns of infection. We conclude with a description of a new ranking algorithm, iRank, for blogs. In contrast to traditional ranking strategies, iRank acts on the implicit link structure to find those blogs that initiate these epidemics. It explores the idea of meme propagation by assuming a parallel with the spreading of most cited URLs in daily weblog entries. The main goal of Blogviz is to unravel hidden patterns in the topics diffusion process. What's the life cycle of a topic? How does it start and how does it evolve through time? Are topics constrained to a specific community of users? Who are the most influential and innovative blogs in any topic? Are there any relationships amongst topic proliferators?}, added-at = {2008-01-21T09:20:12.000+0100}, author = {Lima, Manuel}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/22d3037ef95cdd471f9333497418fab9a/tschert}, description = {try to import}, interhash = {f158ca34d046906218a309a84de5246b}, intrahash = {2d3037ef95cdd471f9333497418fab9a}, keywords = {blogosphere diffusion networks visualisation}, school = {Parsons School of Design}, timestamp = {2008-01-21T09:20:12.000+0100}, title = {blogviz: Mapping the dynamics of Information Diffusion in Blogspace: Master Thesis}, url = {\url{http://a.parsons.edu/%7Elima/thesis/documents/final/blogviz_thesis.pdf}}, urldate = {11.05.2007}, year = {May 2005} }
