Abstract

This book constitutes the proceedings from the 20th Tyrrhenian Workshop on Digital Communications. The Tyrrhenian Workshop on Digital Communications is held each year and devoted to a specific theme in the area of digital communications and its applications. The workshop was held on 2--4 September 2009 in Pula, Sardinia, Italy and it focused on the Internet of Things. Central issues include making a full interoperability of such devices possible, enabling their adaptation and autonomous behavior, as well as guaranteeing trust, privacy and security. Main topics to be addressed are, amongst others: Internet of Things infrastructures and applications; Communication systems and network architectures; Implementation and integration of smart items; Network management and scalability; Business models for emerging Internet of Things; RFID technology and RFID middleware; Standardization issues for the Internet of Things; Location and Tracking through Navigation Sensors; Electromagnetic aspects related to Internet of Things; RFID and Sensors antennas for advanced applications.
