New technology and industrial relations in United States and Australian shipping

, and . New Technology, Work and Employment, 12 (2): 136--145 (September 1997)

Abstract

This article examines the labour implications of technology transfer and diffusion in American and Australian shipping. The authors argue that technology innovation and transfer has been inhibited in these two cases by a range of factors including public policy and trade union behaviour. The authors' findings are related to general models of the impact of technology on labour.
