This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the First International Joint Conference on Ambient Intelligence, AmI 2010, held in Malaga, Spain, in November 2010, a merger of the AmI and AmI.D conferences. The 24 revised full papers presented together with 10 short papers and 5 landscape papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 62 submissions. The papers cover a wide range of topics such as adaptation to the dynamics of the environment, design of AmI environments, semantics of AmI environments, security and privacy in AmI applications, contextual systems, and architectural issues for AmI systems.
