LONG ANGULAR STABLE PLATES - A SOLUTION FOR COMPLEX FRACTURES OF HUMERUS

.
Reviews of Progress, (June 2013)

Abstract

Various options exist for treating ipsilateral metadiaphyseal fractures of humerus but have their own set of complications. Management of these fractures with long angular stable plates gives us an advantage of treating these two level fractures simultaneously thereby reducing complications and postoperative morbidity. Alongwith using minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) principles helps in biological healing of fracture by being minimally invasive and preserving blood supply to the soft tissues. Focus of the present study was to assess the feasibility and clinical outcome of management of metadiaphyseal fractures of the proximal humerus using long angular stable plates in a MIPO fashion.
