Abstract

Personalization of learning has become prominent in the educational field, at various levels. In this article, we attempt to elaborate a different view on personalization than what usually occurs in this area. We put our emphasis upon the inner perception of personalization - the student's feeling that this learning activity is a personal matter. The baseline of view presented here is that personalization occurs when learning turns out to become personal in the learner's mind. We analyze different means for raising this sense of personalization and we describe a prototype designed according to the conceptual approach presented here. The discussion section outlines the possible and desirable complementarities between these different views.
