The ESB system for electronic fault recording realizes a
corporate memory which structures, preserves, and disseminates
the experiences made during the maintenance of a complex machine
for black coal mining. Model-based recording and knowledge
evolution by systematic revision are key concepts of the
approach. A first implementation is already operational. The
final deployment of the system shall result in significant and
quantifiable gains.
