Global Publishing: Changes in submission trends and the impact on scholarly publishers

(Eds.) (April 2012)

Abstract

By looking at submission and decision trends across a variety of global publishers—of all sizes and areas of focus—common themes and challenges can be identified, along with areas to support improvements. One of the most apparent trends, and one that’s currently seen at all stages of the research and publishing workflow, is the significant increase in research output from emerging regions. Managing this increase in submissions and the focus on delivering truly global content while maintaining rigorous peer review practices present challenges and opportunities for publishers, along with questions that merit further examination.
