Abstract

The maximum bubble pressure method of measuring the surface tension of a liquid is analyzed. The maximum pressure is a function of the radius of the vertical cylindrical tube from which the bubble is formed. Numerical solutions of the equations describing the maximum pressure are obtained for a wide range of tube radii. These solutions are used to correlate the maximum pressure with the tube radius using two polynomial functions of the radius.
