Abstract
With regard to an application of magnesium welded joints in the automotive industry, the objective of this work was to evaluate existing fatigue design concepts for a fatigue life assessment. In the investigation presented here the micro-support concept was applied for the theoretic calcn. of the fatigue strength for butt welds with 5.3 mm thickness with and without internal gap across the whole cycle range of the SN-curve (104 < N < 107). It was possible to highlight the possibilities and limits of the concept for the magnesium wrought alloy AZ31 with different microstructures - parent metal, weld metal and heat affected zone. on SciFinder(R)
