Within this contribution we study a very special aspect of the Web 2.0 – the folksonomy – and its use within self-directed learning. Guided by conceptual principles of emergent computing we point out methods, which might be able to let semantics emerge from folksonomies and discuss the effect of the results in self-directed learning.</swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Mathias Lux"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Gisela Dösinger"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Tom Davenport"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Miltiadis Lytras"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:editor></rdf:Description></burst:publication>

Web 2.0 in der Unternehmenspraxis - Grundlagen, Fallstudien und Trends zum Einsatz von Social Software

<dc:subject>social_software web_2.0 book </dc:subject>
Andrea Back und Norbert Gronau und Klaus Tochtermann

Teachers, researchers and students started some years ago to use social software tools, but in few cases these experiences have allowed any scaling from the individual to the institutional level.
The promises and potential of Web 2.0 in universities need an adequate strategy for their development which has to confront the bottlenecks and fears common in these institutions, which could explain the lack of adaptation. Some of the bottlenecks highlighted in this paper are: a) the rejection by the users, personnel and students, b) the lack of an incentive system, c) the available pre-web 2.0 technology, and d) universities show in some cases a culture of aversion to innovation and entrepreneurship.
The adoption of a Web 2.0 approach to learning in universities is a complex process confronting important technological, managerial and human barriers. For these reasons, the design of a set of objectives and a strategy accepted and promoted by the managers, especially those in charge of knowledge management, is absolutely needed. This first step requires in many cases radical cultural changes for people used to work and make decisions in a different scenario. The introduction for the Web 2.0 approach to learning in universities must be done through an adaptive strategy, one that may be designed integrating previous experiences of educational, research and business organizations.</swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Juan Freire"/></rdf:_1></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description></burst:publication>

A Comparison of Social Bookmarking with Traditional Search

<dc:subject>Web_2.0 search_engine Folksonomies </dc:subject>
Beate Krause und Andreas Hotho und Gerd Stumme Advances in Information Retrieval, 30th European Conference on IR Research, ECIR 2008, Seite101-113. (2008)
<taxo:topics><rdf:Bag><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Web_2.0"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/search_engine"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Folksonomies"/></rdf:Bag></taxo:topics><burst:publication><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2a412eda2e397f691b5581e0622c50eeb/cirrus"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/2a412eda2e397f691b5581e0622c50eeb/cirrus"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#InProceedings"/><swrc:date>Mon May 19 09:23:05 CEST 2008</swrc:date><swrc:booktitle>Advances in Information Retrieval, 30th European Conference on IR Research, ECIR 2008</swrc:booktitle><swrc:pages>101-113</swrc:pages><swrc:title>A Comparison of Social Bookmarking with Traditional Search</swrc:title><swrc:year>2008</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>Web_2.0 search_engine Folksonomies </swrc:keywords><swrc:abstract>Social bookmarking systems allow users to store links to internet resources on a web page. As social bookmarking systems are growing in popularity, search algorithms have been developed that transfer the idea of link-based rankings in the Web to a social bookmarking system’s
data structure. These rankings differ from traditional search engine rankings in that they incorporate the rating of users.

In this study, we compare search in social bookmarking systems with traditionalWeb search. In the first part, we compare the user activity and behaviour in both kinds of systems, as well as the overlap of the underlying sets of URLs. In the second part,we compare graph-based and vector space rankings for social bookmarking systems with commercial search engine rankings.

Our experiments are performed on data of the social bookmarking system Del.icio.us and on rankings and log data from Google, MSN, and AOL. We will show that part of the difference between the systems is due to different behaviour (e. g., the concatenation of multi-word lexems
to single terms in Del.icio.us), and that real-world events may trigger similar behaviour in both kinds of systems. We will also show that a graph-based ranking approach on folksonomies yields results that are closer to the rankings of the commercial search engines than vector space
retrieval, and that the correlation is high in particular for the domains that are well covered by the social bookmarking system.</swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Beate Krause"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Andreas Hotho"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Gerd Stumme"/></rdf:_3></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Craig Macdonald"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Iadh Ounis"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Vassilis Plachouras"/></rdf:_3><rdf:_4><swrc:Person swrc:name="Ian Ruthven"/></rdf:_4><rdf:_5><swrc:Person swrc:name="Ryen W. Unternehmen vermissen jedoch eine adäquate Charakterisierung von Potenzialen und Effekten der propagierten Anwendungen auf die unternehmerische Wertschöpfung.

<dc:subject>SOA Konvergenz serviceorientierte_Architektur lv_crossmedia3 Web_2.0 </dc:subject>

Exploring the Potential of Online Communities of Practice for Distance Tutors

CLEE

<dc:subject>dCoP Distributed_Community_of_Practice Networks Virtual_Working Continuing_Professional_Development Open_University Part_Time_Working Higher_Education On-line_Communities Networked_Communities Teaching_Associates Web_2.0 Distance_Tutors CPD </dc:subject>
Janet Macdonald und Anne Hewling Communities of Practice: Creating Learning Environments for Educators, 2, chapter 5, Information Age Publishing, Charlotte, NC, (2008)
<taxo:topics><rdf:Bag><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/dCoP"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Distributed_Community_of_Practice"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Networks"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Virtual_Working"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Continuing_Professional_Development"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Open_University"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Part_Time_Working"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Higher_Education"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/On-line_Communities"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Networked_Communities"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Teaching_Associates"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Web_2.0"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Distance_Tutors"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/CPD"/></rdf:Bag></taxo:topics><burst:publication><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/277a510c31198971ac721dacf65243be5/xckuk"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/277a510c31198971ac721dacf65243be5/xckuk"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#InCollection"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.chris-kimble.com/CLEE/Book_2/Chapters/Chapter_5.html"/><swrc:date>Sat Apr 12 22:06:45 CEST 2008</swrc:date><swrc:address>Charlotte, NC</swrc:address><swrc:booktitle>Communities of Practice: Creating Learning Environments for Educators</swrc:booktitle><swrc:chapter>5</swrc:chapter><swrc:pages>89--106</swrc:pages><swrc:publisher><swrc:Organization swrc:name="Information Age Publishing"/></swrc:publisher><swrc:title>Exploring the Potential of Online Communities of Practice for Distance Tutors</swrc:title><swrc:volume>2</swrc:volume><swrc:year>2008</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>dCoP Distributed_Community_of_Practice Networks Virtual_Working Continuing_Professional_Development Open_University Part_Time_Working Higher_Education On-line_Communities Networked_Communities Teaching_Associates Web_2.0 Distance_Tutors CPD </swrc:keywords><swrc:abstract>As the name implies, distance tutors commonly work away from campus and rarely have the opportunity for ongoing support and informal development such as that enjoyed by campus based staff. In this context there is much potential in making provision for the development of online communities. This chapter describes three case studies of the establishment and evaluation of online Communities of Practice (CoPs) at the Open University (UK). CoPs are in use both as a central part of course related professional development, and for wider pedagogical issues. Platforms in use include online forums, which support online discussion, and new wiki environments, which also offer the potential for extending the use of CoPs to the development and sharing of resources. The variety of ways in which CoPs are in use are described, the major factors which contribute to their success, and the social and institutional challenges to sharing and developing resources within a community.</swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Janet Macdonald"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Anne Hewling"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Chris Kimble"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Paul Hildreth"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:editor></rdf:Description></burst:publication>

Graduate Professional Education from a Community of Practice Perspective: The Role of Social and Technical Networking

CLEE

<dc:subject>Higher_Education Wiki Web_2.0 Professional_Education Blended_Programme Podcasting Threaded_Discussion Tapped-In Chat Social_Computing Graduate_Education Blog </dc:subject>
Linda Polin Communities of Practice: Creating Learning Envronments for Educators, 2, chapter 13, Information Age Publishing, Charlotte, NC, (2008)
<taxo:topics><rdf:Bag><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Higher_Education"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Wiki"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Web_2.0"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Professional_Education"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Blended_Programme"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Podcasting"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Threaded_Discussion"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Tapped-In"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Chat"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Social_Computing"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Graduate_Education"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Blog"/></rdf:Bag></taxo:topics><burst:publication><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/22467ef2c509b1f6fded3749f864fd3e6/xckuk"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/22467ef2c509b1f6fded3749f864fd3e6/xckuk"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#InCollection"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.chris-kimble.com/CLEE/Book_2/Chapters/Chapter_13.html"/><swrc:date>Sat Apr 12 22:06:45 CEST 2008</swrc:date><swrc:address>Charlotte, NC</swrc:address><swrc:booktitle>Communities of Practice: Creating Learning Envronments for Educators</swrc:booktitle><swrc:chapter>13</swrc:chapter><swrc:pages>267--286</swrc:pages><swrc:publisher><swrc:Organization swrc:name="Information Age Publishing"/></swrc:publisher><swrc:title>Graduate Professional Education from a Community of Practice Perspective: The Role of Social and Technical Networking</swrc:title><swrc:volume>2</swrc:volume><swrc:year>2008</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>Higher_Education Wiki Web_2.0 Professional_Education Blended_Programme Podcasting Threaded_Discussion Tapped-In Chat Social_Computing Graduate_Education Blog </swrc:keywords><swrc:abstract>This chapter describes the value and means of re-visioning graduate professional education as an activity that occurs at the intersection of three topics: practice, pedagogy and digital culture. The chapter considers social computing applications as a mechanism to support a shift in the context of graduate professional education from schooling for transfer to situated engagement. The Community of Practice model of learning supports this shift in roles and activities for students and faculty by increasing peer-to-peer engagement and opportunities to engage with experts and expert practice beyond what is locally available. Recognizing that practitioner-students often are not involved in vital, active, engaged, professional communities outside their workplace, and that many faculty members in teaching universities are, likewise, not centrally involved in a larger research community, the chapter offers a view of social and technical networking tools that create participation structures to bridge these communities. The chapter illustrates these ideas by reference to two graduate blended programmes (combining online and face-to-face settings).</swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Linda Polin"/></rdf:_1></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Chris Kimble"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Paul Hildreth"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:editor></rdf:Description></burst:publication>

The Adult Literacy Education Wiki as a Virtual Community of Practice

CLEE

<dc:subject>Adult_Literacy_Education Adult_Education Wiki Web_2.0 Legitimate_Peripheral_Participation Scalability Mentoring LPP </dc:subject>
Erik Jacobson Communities of Practice: Creating Learning Environments for Educators, 2, chapter 16, Information Age Publishing, Charlotte, NC, (2008)
<taxo:topics><rdf:Bag><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Adult_Literacy_Education"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Adult_Education"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Wiki"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Web_2.0"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Legitimate_Peripheral_Participation"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Scalability"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Mentoring"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/LPP"/></rdf:Bag></taxo:topics><burst:publication><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2bf8923ae9e04a9522fa8d81758511ea1/xckuk"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/2bf8923ae9e04a9522fa8d81758511ea1/xckuk"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#InCollection"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.chris-kimble.com/CLEE/Book_2/Chapters/Chapter_16.html"/><swrc:date>Sat Apr 12 22:06:45 CEST 2008</swrc:date><swrc:address>Charlotte, NC</swrc:address><swrc:booktitle>Communities of Practice: Creating Learning Environments for Educators</swrc:booktitle><swrc:chapter>16</swrc:chapter><swrc:pages>327--346</swrc:pages><swrc:publisher><swrc:Organization swrc:name="Information Age Publishing"/></swrc:publisher><swrc:title>The Adult Literacy Education Wiki as a Virtual Community of Practice</swrc:title><swrc:volume>2</swrc:volume><swrc:year>2008</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>Adult_Literacy_Education Adult_Education Wiki Web_2.0 Legitimate_Peripheral_Participation Scalability Mentoring LPP </swrc:keywords><swrc:abstract>This chapter asks whether a large wiki can be considered a Community of Practice (CoP) and whether or not this is a useful question to ask. The focus of the chapter is the Adult Literacy Education Wiki, an on-going creation of adult basic education teachers, administrators and researchers. The ALE Wiki has a core group of very active contributors, over 700 registered users, and more than 720 pages of content. The chapter includes a description of choices the organizers made when constructing the wiki and how those choices create the potential for the ALE Wiki to create a small CoP at its centre. The chapter uses the concept of CoPs as a heuristic to examine the multi-layered participation structure of the wiki. The conclusion is that while the ALE Wiki as a whole cannot be considered a CoP, the concept is a useful way to identify some of the strengths of the wiki and to note the limitations of working with such a large group.</swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Erik Jacobson"/></rdf:_1></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Chris Kimble"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Paul Hildreth"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:editor></rdf:Description></burst:publication>

Online CoPs – towards the next generation

CLEE

<dc:subject>Web_2.0 Participation Data_Integration Evidence_of_Impact Embedding_Performance_Indicators Collaborative_Data_Mining Reflective_Practice Empowering_Self-Evaluation Headteachers Facilitation </dc:subject>
Leonie Ramondt Communities of Practice: Creating Learning Environments for Educators, 2, chapter 18, Information Age Publishing, Charlotte, NC, (2008)
<taxo:topics><rdf:Bag><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Web_2.0"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Participation"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Data_Integration"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Evidence_of_Impact"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Embedding_Performance_Indicators"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Collaborative_Data_Mining"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Reflective_Practice"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Empowering_Self-Evaluation"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Headteachers"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/Facilitation"/></rdf:Bag></taxo:topics><burst:publication><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/23bcca4965724e397cd0249a09e4e26a9/xckuk"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/23bcca4965724e397cd0249a09e4e26a9/xckuk"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#InCollection"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.chris-kimble.com/CLEE/Book_2/Chapters/Chapter_18.html"/><swrc:date>Sat Apr 12 22:06:45 CEST 2008</swrc:date><swrc:address>Charlotte, NC</swrc:address><swrc:booktitle>Communities of Practice: Creating Learning Environments for Educators</swrc:booktitle><swrc:chapter>18</swrc:chapter><swrc:pages>367--394</swrc:pages><swrc:publisher><swrc:Organization swrc:name="Information Age Publishing"/></swrc:publisher><swrc:title>Online CoPs – towards the next generation</swrc:title><swrc:volume>2</swrc:volume><swrc:year>2008</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>Web_2.0 Participation Data_Integration Evidence_of_Impact Embedding_Performance_Indicators Collaborative_Data_Mining Reflective_Practice Empowering_Self-Evaluation Headteachers Facilitation </swrc:keywords><swrc:abstract>This chapter is set in the context of the online Communities of Practice (CoPs) developed by the Ultralab facilitation team for the National College of School Leaderships (NCSL) in England. Firstly, the background and philosophy are briefly explored along with elements of facilitation that enable CoPs to thrive. Next, the impact participation had on practice, from the individual to the systemic, is described along with Fullan's (2005) assertion that sustainable capacity building requires a tri-level solution. It is then suggested that members of CoPs are becoming increasingly e-mature and that embedding key performance indicators into online practice for feedback and self-evaluation can empower members to effectively co-facilitate their communities as well as generate a range of outputs including system indicators, policy measures and rapid feedback. Finally, some features of current web-based technologies are described along with ways these might be integrated into a holistic framework. The aim is to stimulate a discussion of strategies and tools that might help the next generation of CoPs to realise more fully their potential.</swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Leonie Ramondt"/></rdf:_1></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Chris Kimble"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Paul Hildreth"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:editor></rdf:Description></burst:publication>

Stakeholder-Orientierung als Gestaltungsprinzip für Corporate Web 2.0: Eine explorative Analyse

<dc:subject>Stakeholder Web_2.0 Corporate_Web2.0 i* </dc:subject>
Alexander Stocker There are a couple of things going on here: 1) server-side software aimed specifically at managing links with, crucially, a strong, social networking flavour, and 2) an unabashedly open and unstructured approach to tagging, or user classification, of those links. A number of such utilities are presented here, together with an emergent new class of tools that caters more to the academic communities and that stores not only user-supplied tags, but also structured citation metadata terms wherever it is possible to glean this information from service providers. This provision of rich, structured metadata means that the user is provided with an accurate third-party identification of a document, which could be used to retrieve that document, but is also free to search on user-supplied terms so that documents of interest (or rather, references to documents) can be made discoverable and aggregated with other similar descriptions either recorded by the user or by other users.</swrc:abstract><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="2007-04-27" swrc:key="lastdatemodified"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="ISSN 1082-9873" swrc:key="longnotes"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="hammond05-social.pdf" swrc:key="pdf"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="notread" swrc:key="read"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="Hammond" swrc:key="lastname"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="notown" swrc:key="own"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Tony Hammond"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Timo Hannay"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Ben Lund"/></rdf:_3><rdf:_4><swrc:Person swrc:name="Joanna Scott"/></rdf:_4></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description></burst:publication>

Library 2.0 Cookbook: A commonsense guide to those perplexing but intriguing new technologies you keep hearing about

<dc:subject>overview web_2.0 library_2.0 theory </dc:subject>
Karen G. Schneider Web, October2006. predavanje
