You know that usability is key to the success of any interactive system-from commercial software to B2B Web sites to handheld devices. But you need skills to make usability part of your product development equation. How will you assess your users' needs and preferences? How will you design effective solutions that are grounded in users' current practices? How will you evaluate and refine these designs to ensure a quality product? The book is a radical departure from traditional books that emphasize theory and address experts. This book focuses on the realities of product development, showing how user interaction scenarios can make usability practices an integral part of interactive system development. As you'll learn, usability engineering is not the application of inflexible rules; it's a process of analysis, prototyping, and problem solving in which you evaluate tradeoffs, make reasoned decisions, and maximize the overall value of your product. It is written by prominent HCI educators who understand how to teach usability practices to students and professional developers. It includes key features such as: interleaving HCI theory and concepts with a running case study demonstrating their application; gradually elaborating the case study to introduce increasingly sophisticated usability engineering techniques; analyzing usability issues in realistic scenarios that describe existing or envisioned systems from the perspective of one or more users; emphasizing the real world of usability engineering-a world in which tradeoffs must be weighed and difficult decisions made to achieve desired results; and, including a companion Web site which provides additional case studies in a multimedia format, along with a Java application for creating and editing scenarios. This site also provides instructors with sample syllabi, lecture slides and notes, in-class exercises, solutions to textbook exercises, additional project ideas, and links to other HCI resources.</swrc:abstract><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="Amazon Search inside:http\://www.amazon.de/gp/reader/1558607129/:URL" swrc:key="file"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="1-55860-712-9" swrc:key="isbn"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Mary Beth Rosson"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="John M. The prevalence of autistic disorder has increased in recent surveys and current estimates of prevalence are around 20/10,000, whereas the prevalence for PDD not otherwise specified is around 30/10,000 in recent surveys. Prevalence of Asperger disorder is much lower than that for autistic disorder and childhood disintegrative disorder is a very rare disorder with a prevalence of about 2/100,000. Combined all together, recent studies that have examined the whole spectrum of PDDs have consistently provided estimates in the 60-70/10,000 range, making PDD one of the most frequent childhood neurodevelopmental disorders. The meaning of the increase in prevalence in recent decades is reviewed. There is evidence that the broadening of the concept, the expansion of diagnostic criteria, the development of services, and improved awareness of the condition have played a major role in explaining this increase, although it cannot be ruled out that other factors might have also contributed to that trend.

This concise and practical book shows you how to answer these questions and more. You'll learn how to combine social web data, analysis techniques, and visualization to help you find what you've been looking for in the social haystack, as well as useful information you didn't know existed. Each standalone chapter introduces techniques for mining data in different areas of the social Web, including blogs and email. All you need to get started is a programming background and a willingness to learn basic Python tools. * Get a straightforward synopsis of the social web landscape * Use adaptable scripts on GitHub to harvest data from social network APIs such as Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn * Learn how to employ easy-to-use Python tools to slice and dice the data you collect * Explore social connections in microformats with the XHTML Friends Network * Apply advanced mining techniques such as TF-IDF, cosine similarity, collocation analysis, document summarization, and clique detection * Build interactive visualizations with web technologies based upon HTML5 and JavaScript toolkits "Let Matthew Russell serve as your guide to working with social data sets old (email, blogs) and new (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook). Mining the Social Web is a natural successor to Programming Collective Intelligence: a practical, hands-on approach to hacking on data from the social Web with Python." --Jeff Hammerbacher, Chief Scientist, Cloudera "A rich, compact, useful, practical introduction to a galaxy of tools, techniques, and theories for exploring structured and unstructured data." --Alex Martelli, Senior Staff Engineer, Google</swrc:abstract><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="978-1-449-38834-8" swrc:key="isbn"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Matthew A. Software models capture relevant characteristics of a software artifact to be developed, yet, most often these software models have limited formal semantics, or the underlying (often graphical) software language varies from case to case in a way that makes it hard if not impossible to fix its semantics. In this contribution, we survey the use of ontology technologies for software modeling in order to carry over advantages from ontology technologies to the software modeling domain. It will turn out that ontology-based metamodels constitute a core means for exploiting expressive ontology reasoning in the software modeling domain while remaining flexible enough to accommodate varying needs of software modelers.</swrc:abstract><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="2011-12-30 09:27:14" swrc:key="timestamp"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="porta" swrc:key="username"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="474e3b83072607c86fb52b5db2a7296d" swrc:key="intrahash"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="Staab2010Model.pdf:Staab2010Model.pdf:PDF" swrc:key="file"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="72ea5c229054e719977651efff37f18a" swrc:key="interhash"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="10.1007/978-3-642-15543-7_3" swrc:key="doi"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="public" swrc:key="groups"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Steffen Staab"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Tobias Walter"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Gerd Gr{\"o}ner"/></rdf:_3><rdf:_4><swrc:Person swrc:name="Fernando Silva Parreiras"/></rdf:_4></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Uwe A{\ss}mann"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Andreas Bartho"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Christian Wende"/></rdf:_3></rdf:Seq></swrc:editor></rdf:Description></burst:publication>

UI generation from task, domain and user models: the DB-USE approach

<dc:subject>user interface generation domain task model driven development engineering </dc:subject>
<span class="authorEditorList"><a href="/author/Tran">Vi Tran</a> </span><em>Proceedings of the 2nd ACM SIGCHI symposium on Engineering interactive computing systems, </em><em>page 353--356. </em><em>New York, NY, USA, </em><em>ACM, </em>(<em>2010</em>)
<taxo:topics><rdf:Bag><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/user"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/interface"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/generation"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/domain"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/task"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/model"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/driven"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/development"/><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/engineering"/></rdf:Bag></taxo:topics><burst:publication><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/22dca154a78b9be01de11f504d1b4f7b7/porta"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/22dca154a78b9be01de11f504d1b4f7b7/porta"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#InProceedings"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://doi.acm.org/10.1145/1822018.1822079"/><swrc:date>Tue Dec 27 21:14:51 CET 2011</swrc:date><swrc:address>New York, NY, USA</swrc:address><swrc:booktitle>Proceedings of the 2nd ACM SIGCHI symposium on Engineering interactive computing systems</swrc:booktitle><swrc:pages>353--356</swrc:pages><swrc:publisher><swrc:Organization swrc:name="ACM"/></swrc:publisher><swrc:series>EICS '10</swrc:series><swrc:title>{UI} generation from task, domain and user models: the {DB}-{USE} approach</swrc:title><swrc:year>2010</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>user interface generation domain task model driven development engineering </swrc:keywords><swrc:abstract>Information Systems {UI} (User Interface) generation from declarative models has been the focus of numerous and various approaches in the human computer interaction community.
