This user-generated content is a primary source of information about the content and context of an image. While traditional information retrieval models focus on finding the most relevant document without consideration for diversity, image search requires results that are both diverse and relevant. This is problematic for images because they are represented very sparsely by text, and as with all user-generated content the text for a given image can be extremely noisy.</swrc:abstract><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="2009-01-21 18:08:35" swrc:key="posted-at"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada" swrc:key="location"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="2" swrc:key="priority"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="978-1-60558-312-9" swrc:key="isbn"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="3920677" swrc:key="citeulike-article-id"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="http://dx.doi.org/10.1145/1460096.1460109" swrc:key="citeulike-linkout-1"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=1460096.1460109" swrc:key="citeulike-linkout-0"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="10.1145/1460096.1460109" swrc:key="doi"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Roelof van Zwol"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Vanessa Murdock"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Lluis G. Key tasks in evolving the current Web to a Semantic Web include discovering and specifying semantic relationships between multiple ontologies and annotating textual or multimedia information. However, whereas the Web 2.0 movement is fueled by an unprecedented number of contributions from Web users, there's a substantial lack of user involvement in weaving the heavyweight Semantic Web. One cause of this lack of involvement is a lack of proper incentive structures. Hiding the tasks involved in weaving the Semantic Web behind online multiplayer games presents the tasks as fun and intellectually challenging entertainment. A series of OntoGame prototypes support the full life cycle of realizing the Semantic Web. These games adopt Luis von Ahn's "games with a purpose" concept&#x02014;that is, presenting a task as an online game can motivate many people to work on this task, and for free. Preliminary results suggest that users are willing to spend substantial time playing the OntoGames. In addition, a setting in which users must propose a solution to a conceptual-modeling task such that it will most likely be consensual with an unknown game partner produces high-quality semantic data.</swrc:abstract><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="1541-1672" swrc:key="issn"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="10.1109/MIS.2008.45" swrc:key="doi"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Katharina Siorpaes"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Martin Hepp"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description></burst:publication>
IEEEXplore# Games with a Purpose for the Semantic Web

OntoGame: Towards Overcoming the Incentive Bottleneck in Ontology Building.

<dc:subject>master_thesis </dc:subject>
<span class="authorEditorList"><a href="/author/Siorpaes">Katharina Siorpaes</a>, and <a href="/author/Hepp">Martin Hepp</a> </span><em>OTM Workshops 2, </em><em>volume 4806 of Lecture Notes in Computer Science, </em><em>page 1222-1232. </em><em>Springer, </em>(<em>2007</em>)
<taxo:topics><rdf:Bag><rdf:li rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/master_thesis"/></rdf:Bag></taxo:topics><burst:publication><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2a01248654c0d02b5c07b2db3114fdd00/michi"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/2a01248654c0d02b5c07b2db3114fdd00/michi"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#InProceedings"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://dblp.uni-trier.de/db/conf/otm/otm2007-w2.html#SiorpaesH07"/><swrc:date>Wed Mar 03 19:40:14 CET 2010</swrc:date><swrc:booktitle>OTM Workshops (2)</swrc:booktitle><swrc:crossref>conf/otm/2007-w2</swrc:crossref><swrc:pages>1222-1232</swrc:pages><swrc:publisher><swrc:Organization swrc:name="Springer"/></swrc:publisher><swrc:series>Lecture Notes in Computer Science</swrc:series><swrc:title>OntoGame: Towards Overcoming the Incentive Bottleneck in Ontology Building.</swrc:title><swrc:volume>4806</swrc:volume><swrc:year>2007</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>master_thesis </swrc:keywords><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-540-76890-6_50" swrc:key="ee"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="978-3-540-76889-0" swrc:key="isbn"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="2007-11-27" swrc:key="date"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Katharina Siorpaes"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Martin Hepp"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Robert Meersman"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Zahir Tari"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Pilar Herrero"/></rdf:_3></rdf:Seq></swrc:editor></rdf:Description></burst:publication>

OntoGame: Games with a Purpose for the Semantic Web

<dc:subject>master_thesis </dc:subject>
<span class="authorEditorList"><a href="/author/Siorpaes">K. Darüber hinaus diskutieren wir Ansätze und weitere Vorschläge (Tagverteilungen, Kollaboration und akteurspezifische Aspekte) hinsichtlich eines Relevance Rankings von getaggten Dokumenten. among AI systems, it is useful to define the common vocabulary in
which shared knowledge is represented. A specification of a representational
vocabulary for a shared domain of discourse---definitions of classes,
relations, functions, and other objects---is called an ontology.
This paper describes a mechanism for defining ontologies that are
portable over representation systems. Definitions written in a standard
format for predicate calculus are translated by a system called Ontolingua
into specialized representations, including frame-based systems as
well as relational languages. This allows researchers to share and
reuse ontologies, while retaining the computational benefits of specialized
implementations. We discuss how the translation approach to portability
addresses several technical problems. One problem is how to accommodate
the stylistic and organizational differences among representations
while preserving declarative content. Another is how to translate
from a very expressive language into restricted languages, remaining
system-independent while preserving the computational efficiency

mediation, selection, composition, and invocation of services, enabling
fully flexible automated e-business. Their usage, however, still
requires a significant amount of human intervention due to the lack
of support for a machine-processable description.

In this book, Jos de Bruijn and his coauthors lay the foundations
for understanding the requirements that shape the description of
the various aspects related to Semantic Web services, such as the
static background knowledge in the form of ontologies, the functional
description of the service, and the behavioral description of the
service. They introduce the Web Service Modeling Language (WSML),
which provides means for describing the functionality and behavior
of Web services, as well as the underlying business knowledge, in
the form of ontologies, with a conceptual grounding in the Web Service
Modeling Ontology.

Academic and industrial researchers as well as professionals will
find a comprehensive overview of the concepts and challenges in the
area of Semantic Web services, the Web Services Modeling Language
and its relation to the Web Services Modeling Ontology, and an in-depth
treatment of both enabling technologies and theoretical foundations.</swrc:abstract><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="2009.05.11" swrc:key="timestamp"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="Amazon Search inside:http\://www.amazon.de/gp/reader/3540681698/:URL" swrc:key="file"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="978-3-54068-169-4" swrc:key="isbn"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="flint" swrc:key="owner"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="10.1007/978-3-540-68172-4" swrc:key="doi"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Jos de Bruijn"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Dieter Fensel"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Mick Kerrigan"/></rdf:_3><rdf:_4><swrc:Person swrc:name="Uwe Keller"/></rdf:_4><rdf:_5><swrc:Person swrc:name="Holger Lausen"/></rdf:_5><rdf:_6><swrc:Person swrc:name="James Scicluna"/></rdf:_6></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description></burst:publication>

Ontology Learning and Population from Text: Algorithms, Evaluation
