Ganz schön peinlich, wenn's stimmt: Im Patentstreit mit Samsung legt Apple einem deutschen Gericht offenbar ein manipuliertes Beweisfoto vor. Auf dem Bild ist neben Apples iPad 2 ein Galaxy Tab 10.1 mit einem falschen Seitenverhältnis und entferntem Samsung-Logo zu sehen.

As part of the Single Market Act, the Commission unveiled today a wide-ranging strategy to modernise intellectual property rights (IPR) in the Single Market. The strategy sets out a blueprint for a number of initiatives the Commission intends to take between now and 2014. Among the first deliverables of this strategy are today's proposals for an easier licensing system for so-called "orphan works" and for a new regulation to reinforce customs actions in fighting trade of IPR infringing goods.

Intellectual property does not increase innovation and creation. Extending IP rights may modestly boost the incentive for innovation, but this positive effect is wiped away by the negative effect of creating monopolies. There is simply no evidence that strengthening patent regimes increases innovation or economic productivity. In fact, some evidence shows that increased protection even decreases innovation.

Part of the market is the need to incur costs of exclusion. If you don't put a lock on your business, people will steal it. .... To decide whether a given endeavor is worthwhile, one must take all costs into account, including costs of exclusion.
