Appunta is a Framework for the Android platform that allows us not only to easily show geopositional information to the user, but also to create new ways of showing this information or modifying the existing ones.
Basically, you have a set of POI (Points Of Interest) located in a map (thus, with a latitude, longitude, and optionally, an altitude), and you need to show these POI and their related information to the user.
Appunta allows you, out of the box, to represent this information in two different ways, a radar or an augmented reality view. But, you can modify these components to show data in other ways or create new ways of visualizing this information.
Appunta is Open Source and anybody can freely use it. So, what are you waiting for?
visone is a software for the visual creation, transformation, exploration, analysis and representation of network data, jointly developed at the University of Konstanz and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology since 2001.
The announcement this week that Google released a beta version of a robust cloud computing platform called Google App Engine that lets anyone build apps on Googles renowned and highly scalable infrastructure underscored a key trend in the software industry today. Namely that software platforms are moving from their traditional centricity around individually owned and managed computing resources and up into the cloud of the Internet. Googles entry into a space that has been largely dominated so far by Amazon and its Elastic Compute Cloud as well as a few smaller players like Bungee and Heroku has turned the Internet cloud computing space into a fully-fledged industry virtually overnight. What makes these offerings so interesting is their promise to turn enormous amounts of operational competency and accumulated economies of scale (which are enormous in Amazons and Googles cases) into a highly competitive new software platform, akin to Windows or Linux, except entirely hosted off-premises and on the Internet.
Mobile development platform for javascript developers: Appcelerator Titanium lets you use web technologies, open source and cloud computing to build native apps for iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.
The Knowledge Discovery Machine Learning (KDML) group focuses on the neighboring subfields of computer science known as knowledge discovery in databases (KDD, sometimes referred to simply as data mining) and machine learning (ML). For us, these fields include on the one hand the automated analysis of large data sets using intelligent algorithms that are capable of extracting from the collected data hidden knowledge in order to produce models that can be used for prediction and decision making. On the other hand, they also include algorithms and systems that are capable of learning from experience and adapting to their environment or their users.
