Running JabRef

Running JabRef with our plugin is very easy. All you need to do is running JabRef. The Plugin will be loaded during the start up.

Running JabRef from a terminal

To run JabRef from a terminal you first need to point to the directory where you installed JabRef and enter the following command into you terminal.

java -jar JabRef-2.6.jar

Beware that your PATH contains the Java installation directory!

Running JabRef from the Desktop

Also you can create a link on your Desktop. The command to run JabRef by this way is:

java -jar /path/to/your/JabRef/Installation/JabRef-2.6.jar

Or if you are using Windows as operation system

java -jar P:\ath\to\your\JabRef\Installation\JabRef-2.6.jar

Activating the BibSonomy sidebar

If JabRef has successfully loaded you can create a new database by either pointing to the File menu and selecting New database or clicking on the New database button on the tool bar.

You always need to have an opened database in your JabRef to activate the plugin!

Afterwards you can point to the Plugins menu and select Search / fetch entries from the BibSonomy sub menu.

Activate the BibSonomy sidebar.
