A closer look, though, reveals that the core technologies and concerns of these two approaches are complementary and that each field can and must draw from the other’s strengths. We believe that future Web applications will retain the Web 2.0 focus on community and usability, while drawing on Semantic Web infrastructure to facilitate mashup-like information sharing. However, there are several open issues that must be addressed before such applications can become commonplace. In this paper, we outline a semantic weblogs scenario that illustrates the potential for combining Web 2.0 and Semantic Web technologies, while highlighting the unresolved issues that impede its realization. Nevertheless, we believe that the scenario can be realized in the short-term. We point to recent progress made in resolving each of the issues as well as future research directions for each of the communities. %Z %U http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.websem.2007.11.005 %+ %^ %0 %0 Conference Proceedings %A Auram\"a,ki, Esa; Robinson, Mike; Aaltonen, Ann; Kovalainen, Mikko; Liinamaa, Arja & Tuuna-V\"a,isk\"a,, Taina %D 1996 %T Paperwork at 78kph %E %B CSCW '96: Proceedings of the 1996 ACM conference on Computer supported cooperative work %C New York, NY, USA %I ACM %V %6 %N %P 370--379 %& %Y %S %7 %8 %9 %? %! %Z %@ 0-89791-765-0 %( %) %* %L %M %1 %2 %3 inproceedings %4 %# %$ %F 240348 %K blog enterprise history %X %Z %U http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=240080.240348 %+ %^ %0 %0 Journal Article %A Cohen, Edith & Krishnamurthy, Balachander %D 2006 %T A short walk in the Blogistan. %E %B Computer Networks %C %I %V 50 %6 %N 5 %P 615-630 %& %Y %S %7 %8 %9 %? %! %Z %@ %( %) %* %L %M %1 %2 %3 article %4 %# %$ %F journals/cn/CohenK06 %K blog %X %Z %U http://dblp.uni-trier.de/db/journals/cn/cn50.html#CohenK06 %+ %^ %0 %0 Book %A Ebersbach, Anja; Glaser, Markus & Heigl, Richard %D 2008 %T Social Web %E %B UTB %C Konstanz %I UVK %V 3065 %6 %N %P %& %Y %S %7 %8 %9 %? %! %Z %@ 978-3-8252-3065-4 %( %) %* %L %M %1 %2 %3 book %4 %# flint %$ %F EbersbachGlaserHeigl08 %K blog book bookmark information management newsfeeds science social software tagging v0805 wiki %X Wikis, Blogs und Podcasts ermöglichen in zunehmendem Maße eine Interaktion zwischen den Besuchern einer Website und führen zur Bildung von Gemeinschaften - eine in den Massenmedien bisher nicht erreichte Partizipation. Web 2.0 is also called the wisdom Web, people-centric Web, participative Web, and read/write Web. Web 2.0 harnesses the Web in a more interactive and collaborative manner, emphasizing peers' social interaction and collective intelligence, and presents new opportunities for leveraging the Web and engaging its users more effectively.
