Abstract: The quantification of lexical semantic relatedness has many applications in NLP, and many different measures have been proposed. We evaluate five of these measures, all of which use WordNet as their central resource, by comparing their performance in detecting and correcting real-word spelling errors. An information-content-based measure proposed by Jiang and Conrath is found superior to those proposed by Hirst and St-Onge, Leacock and Chodorow, Lin, and Resnik. In addition, we explain why distributional similarity is not an adequate proxy for lexical semantic relatedness.

Damianos, L., Griffith, J., Cuomo, D., Hirst, D. & Smallwood, J. Onomi: Social Bookmarking on a Corporate Intranet 2006 Collaborative Web Tagging Workshop at WWW2006, Edinburgh, Scotland  inproceedings URL
Abstract: We describe a technology exploration of social bookmarking within a closed, corporate environment. We hypothesize that such a tool would be valuable for information sharing, information management, and social networking in our organization. In order to assess the value of social software, we have embarked upon a 6-month pilot, or trial period, where we are striving to reach critical mass through marketing strategies and targeting influential figures with large, social networks. Our goal is to demonstrate the utility of social bookmarking within our corporation and to explore some of the social influences and behavioral evolution.

Abstract: In an interesting set of articles in the journal Near Eastern Archaeology, several scholars discuss the ramifications of the open context movement in archaeology, in particular data sharing. If that's what trips your trigger, you should take a look.
