In contrast, folksonomies are widely inuse for (1) tagging Web pages (e.g. del.icio.us), (2) annotating pictures (e.g.flickr), or (3) classifying scholarly publications (e.g. bibsonomy). However, such folksonomies cannot offer the expressivity of ontologies, and therespective tags often lack a context-independent and intersubjective definitionof meaning. Also, folksonomies and other unsupervised vocabularies frequentlysuffer from inconsistencies and redundancies. In this paper, we argue that thesocial interaction manifested in folksonomies and in their usage should beexploited for building and maintaining ontologies. Then, we sketch acomprehensive approach for deriving ontologies from folksonomies byintegrating multiple resources and techniques. In detail, we suggest combining(1) the statistical analysis of folksonomies, associated usage data, and theirimplicit social networks, (2) online lexical resources like dictionaries, Wordnet,Google and Wikipedia, (3) ontologies and Semantic Web resources, (4)ontology mapping and matching approaches, and (5) functionality that helpshuman actors in achieving and maintaining consensus over ontology elementsuggestions resulting from the preceding steps.</swrc:abstract><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="dbenz" swrc:key="username"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field Key tasks in evolving the current Web to a Semantic Web include discovering and specifying semantic relationships between multiple ontologies and annotating textual or multimedia information. However, whereas the Web 2.0 movement is fueled by an unprecedented number of contributions from Web users, there's a substantial lack of user involvement in weaving the heavyweight Semantic Web. One cause of this lack of involvement is a lack of proper incentive structures. Hiding the tasks involved in weaving the Semantic Web behind online multiplayer games presents the tasks as fun and intellectually challenging entertainment. A series of OntoGame prototypes support the full life cycle of realizing the Semantic Web. These games adopt Luis von Ahn's "games with a purpose" concept—that is, presenting a task as an online game can motivate many people to work on this task, and for free. Preliminary results suggest that users are willing to spend substantial time playing the OntoGames. In addition, a setting in which users must propose a solution to a conceptual-modeling task such that it will most likely be consensual with an unknown game partner produces high-quality semantic data.</swrc:abstract><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="1541-1672" swrc:key="issn"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="10.1109/MIS.2008.45" swrc:key="doi"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Katharina Siorpaes"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Martin Hepp"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/277b704c2949c8573649ad7ecd854ea48/dblp"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/277b704c2949c8573649ad7ecd854ea48/dblp"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#InProceedings"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://dblp.uni-trier.de/db/conf/sac/sac2011.html#ThalerSS11"/><swrc:date>Wed May 18 00:00:00 CEST 2011</swrc:date><swrc:booktitle>SAC</swrc:booktitle><swrc:crossref>conf/sac/2011</swrc:crossref><swrc:pages>1711-1712</swrc:pages><swrc:publisher><swrc:Organization swrc:name="ACM"/></swrc:publisher><swrc:title>SpotTheLink: playful alignment of ontologies.</swrc:title><swrc:year>2011</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>dblp </swrc:keywords><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="http://doi.acm.org/10.1145/1982185.1982542" swrc:key="ee"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="978-1-4503-0113-8" swrc:key="isbn"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Stefan Thaler"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Elena Paslaru Bontas Simperl"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Katharina Siorpaes"/></rdf:_3></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="William C.
