Overall, users who self-reported higher use of Internet information and higher rates of Wikipedia usage tended to produce lower credibility judgments about Wikipedia articles and authors. However, use of WikiDashboard significantly increased article and author credibility judgments, with effect sizes larger than any other measured effects of background media usage and attitudes on Wikiepedia credibility. The results suggest that increased exposure to the editing/authoring histories of Wikipedia increases credibility judgments.</swrc:abstract><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="Boston, MA, USA" swrc:key="location"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="978-1-60558-246-7" swrc:key="isbn"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="http://doi.acm.org/10.1145/1518701.1518929" swrc:key="doi"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Peter Pirolli"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Evelin Wollny"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Bongwon Suh"/></rdf:_3></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2dc2df9de8c6858d91eeb3897d7289c8a/zoka"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/2dc2df9de8c6858d91eeb3897d7289c8a/zoka"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#Book"/><swrc:date>Wed Nov 05 16:51:01 CET 2008</swrc:date><swrc:title>Designing Web Usability</swrc:title><swrc:year>2001</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>accessibility animation audio content_design credibility cross-plattform_design design_guidelines design_precepts design_standards frames images linking multimedia navigation page_design photos style_sheets video web_designer web_developer web_usability wismasys0809 </swrc:keywords><swrc:abstract>Creating Web sites is easy. Creating sites that truly meet the needs and expectations of the wide range of online users is quite another story. In Designing Web Usability: The Practice of Simplicity, renowned Web usability guru Jakob Nielsen shares his insightful thoughts on the subject. Packed with annotated examples of actual Web sites, this book sets out many of the design precepts all Web developers should follow.

This guide segments discussions of Web usability into page, content, site, and intranet design. This breakdown skillfully isolates for the reader many subtly different challenges that are often mixed together in other discussions. For example, Nielsen addresses the requirements of viewing pages on varying monitor sizes separately from writing concise text for "scanability." Along the way, the author pulls no punches with his opinions, using phrases like "frames: just say no" to immediately make his feelings known. Fortunately, his advise is some of the best you'll find.

One of the unique aspects of this title is the use of actual statistics to buttress the author's opinions on various techniques and technologies. He includes survey results on sizes of screens, types of queries submitted to search portals, response times by connection type and more. This book is intended as the first of two volumes--focusing on the "what." The author promises a follow-up title that will show the "hows" and, based on this installation, we can't wait. --Stephen W. The literature indicates that both the political and centrally controlled media system have an impact on the communication needs of citizens. These findings are at odds with audience research into democratic societies, which has emphasized entertainment as the most important variable for media use, whereas only a few segments of the audience are interested in genuinely political items. This article argues that the above assumptions concerning media use in countries governed by authoritarian regimes have failed to recognize the role of daily life in media selection and reception. It points out that communication science has ignored citizens’ predominant desire for entertainment and over-estimated their need for information. The typology of East German media consumers presented in this article shows that, rather than being formed by the political system and a specific media landscape, people’s communication needs are primarily shaped by the routines and patterns of everyday life. </swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Michael Meyen"/></rdf:_1></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2c835870d0a151f4814089626e9de94f3/anna123"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/2c835870d0a151f4814089626e9de94f3/anna123"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#Article"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://crx.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/21/1/105"/><swrc:date>Sat May 03 13:54:41 CEST 2008</swrc:date><swrc:journal>Communication Research</swrc:journal><swrc:number>1</swrc:number><swrc:title>The Relationship of Attitudinal Components to Trust in Media</swrc:title><swrc:volume>21</swrc:volume><swrc:year>1994</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>attitude_extremity content credibility lv_crossmedia4 media_source newspaper television_news trust_media </swrc:keywords><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Keith Stamm"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Ric Dube"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Keith Stamm"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Ric Dube"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:editor></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/25eadb282d245bf99790147d553a5a360/anna123"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/25eadb282d245bf99790147d553a5a360/anna123"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#Article"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://crx.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/34/2/231"/><swrc:date>Sat May 03 13:46:47 CEST 2008</swrc:date><swrc:journal>Communication Research</swrc:journal><swrc:number>2</swrc:number><swrc:title>Trust in News Media: Development and Validation of a Multidimensional Scale</swrc:title><swrc:volume>34</swrc:volume><swrc:year>2007</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>credibility lv_crossmedia4 news_media trust_media trustworthiness </swrc:keywords><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Matthias Kohring"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Jörg Matthes"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Matthias Kohring"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Jörg Matthes"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:editor></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2d691f5846edd269434d9a8d56aa9c10e/smicha"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/2d691f5846edd269434d9a8d56aa9c10e/smicha"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#Article"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/B6V82-4MC0Y69-7/1/58c0bdfd4499f1f0ba9f9074f05ed6c0"/><swrc:date>Mon Apr 28 14:02:50 CEST 2008</swrc:date><swrc:journal>Journal of Policy Modeling</swrc:journal><swrc:month>Dec</swrc:month><swrc:number>9</swrc:number><swrc:pages>1011--1022</swrc:pages><swrc:title>Central bank credibility and monetary policy in Indonesia</swrc:title><swrc:volume>28</swrc:volume><swrc:year>2006</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>Central bank credibility </swrc:keywords><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Enrico Tanuwidjaja"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Keen Meng Choy"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/214431f0a7526dee9efd7b34d478f3f56/smicha"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/214431f0a7526dee9efd7b34d478f3f56/smicha"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#Article"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/B6V64-3SX26V2-5/1/b3d8a0e3994c99e39aee5b3c2e51fbc3"/><swrc:date>Mon Apr 28 13:05:01 CEST 2008</swrc:date><swrc:journal>European Economic Review</swrc:journal><swrc:month>Aug</swrc:month><swrc:number>8</swrc:number><swrc:pages>1511--1535</swrc:pages><swrc:title>A new indicator to assess the credibility of the EMS</swrc:title><swrc:volume>41</swrc:volume><swrc:year>1997</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>Credibility </swrc:keywords><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Marta G{\'o}mez-Puig"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Jos{\'e}G.
