Unfortunately, many textbook treatments of the topic are written so that even their own authors would be mystified, if they bothered to read their own writing. For this reason, an understanding of the method has been reserved for the elite brilliant few who have painstakingly decoded the mumblings of their forebears. Nevertheless, the Conjugate Gradient Method is a composite of simple, elegant ideas that almost anyone can understand. Of course, a reader as intelligent as yourself will learn them almost effortlessly. The idea of quadratic forms is introduced and used to derive the methods of Steepest Descent, Conjugate Directions, and Conjugate Gradients. Eigenvectors are explained and used to examine the convergence of the Jacobi Method, Steepest Descent, and Conjugate Gradients. Other topics include preconditioning and the nonlinear Conjugate Gradient Method. I have taken pains to make this article easy to read. Sixty-two illustrations are provided. Dense prose is avoided. Concepts are explained in several different ways. Most equations are coupled with an intuitive interpretation.</swrc:abstract><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="http://www.ncstrl.org:8900/ncstrl/servlet/search?formname=detail\&amp;id=oai%3Ancstrlh%3Acmucs%3ACMU%2F%2FCS-94-125" swrc:key="source"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Jonathan R Shewchuk"/></rdf:_1></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2de7dac6570ce336659312076c648cd7d/free2fail"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/2de7dac6570ce336659312076c648cd7d/free2fail"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#Article"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/els/08839026/2003/00000018/00000002/art00081"/><swrc:date>Sun Jul 27 21:09:01 CEST 2008</swrc:date><swrc:journal>Journal of Business Venturing</swrc:journal><swrc:pages>165-187(23)</swrc:pages><swrc:title>Network-based research in entrepreneurship - A critical review</swrc:title><swrc:volume>18</swrc:volume><swrc:year>March 2003</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>introduction socialNETWORKS YalePaper entrepreneurship review </swrc:keywords><swrc:abstract>Network-based research in entrepreneurship is reviewed and critically examined in three areas: content of network relationships, governance, and structure. Research on the impact of network structure on venture performance has yielded a number of important findings. In contrast, fewer process-oriented studies have been conducted and only partial empirical confirmation exists for a theory of network development. In order to address unanswered questions on how network content, governance, and structure emerge over time, more longitudinal and qualitative work is needed. Theory building in this field would benefit also from a greater integration between process- and outcome-oriented research.</swrc:abstract><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="doi:10.1016/S0883-9026(02)00081-2	" swrc:key="doi"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Hoang H."/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Antoncic B."/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/296c345e17a9f21c1cda52f044159294e/kochm"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/296c345e17a9f21c1cda52f044159294e/kochm"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#InCollection"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/3486585797/communixx"/><swrc:date>Fri Jun 27 10:39:31 CEST 2008</swrc:date><swrc:address>München</swrc:address><swrc:booktitle>Web 2.0 in der Unternehmenspraxis</swrc:booktitle><swrc:pages>151-161</swrc:pages><swrc:publisher><swrc:Organization swrc:name="Oldenbourg"/></swrc:publisher><swrc:title>Der Weg zum eigenen Unternehmenswiki</swrc:title><swrc:year>2008</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>requirements enterprise2.0 wiki knowledgemanagement introduction changemanagement socialsoftware </swrc:keywords><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Katja Richter"/></rdf:_1></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Andrea Back"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Norbert Gronau"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Klaus Tochtermann"/></rdf:_3></rdf:Seq></swrc:editor></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2fc6178e7acc7fcc530557a7c95e92da4/cschenk"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/2fc6178e7acc7fcc530557a7c95e92da4/cschenk"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#Article"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.rallydev.com/documents/scrumprimer.pdf"/><swrc:date>Wed Jun 25 17:06:08 CEST 2008</swrc:date><swrc:title>The Scrum Primer. In this article, the interactive broadcasting process is broadly defined to include studio technology and digital TV applications at consumer set-top boxes. In particular, augmented reality studio technology employs smart-projectors as light sources and blends real scenes with interactive computer graphics that are controlled at end-user terminals. Moreover, TV producer-friendly multimedia authoring tools empower the development of novel TV formats. Finally, the support for user-contributed content raises the potential to revolutionize the hierarchical TV production process, by introducing the viewer as part of content delivery chain.</swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Konstantinos Chorianopoulos"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="George Lekakos"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Jens Herder"/></rdf:_1></rdf:Seq></swrc:editor></rdf:Description><foaf:Group rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/tag/introduction"><foaf:name>introduction</foaf:name><description>Community for tag(s) introduction</description></foaf:Group></rdf:RDF>
