At the beginning it gives a classification of Weblogs in the context of social software. Then one tries to find a general valid definition for the research object. Based on that, main elements and occurrences of Weblogs will be shown. In the next chapter this paper gives an analysis of Weblogs in the field of e-learning. For this, e-learning classification criteria will be derived and Weblogs will be classified in it. The same approach will be made for knowledge management. Starting with the tasks in the knowledge management as classification criteria, Weblogs are analysed in front of this context and possible applications are presented. In the conclusion, actual problems with Weblogs in the use of e-learning and knowledge management are explained and future fields of research will be named.</swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Stefan Bitzer"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Matthias Schumann"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/23fef33ccaffd34339774a9277c12ce67/chilluple"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/23fef33ccaffd34339774a9277c12ce67/chilluple"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#Book"/><swrc:date>Tue Aug 05 10:25:57 CEST 2008</swrc:date><swrc:address>Saarbrücken</swrc:address><swrc:publisher><swrc:Organization swrc:name="VDM Verlag"/></swrc:publisher><swrc:title>eLearning im konstruktiven Ingenieurbau. Teachers, researchers and students started some years ago to use social software tools, but in few cases these experiences have allowed any scaling from the individual to the institutional level.
The promises and potential of Web 2.0 in universities need an adequate strategy for their development which has to confront the bottlenecks and fears common in these institutions, which could explain the lack of adaptation. Some of the bottlenecks highlighted in this paper are: a) the rejection by the users, personnel and students, b) the lack of an incentive system, c) the available pre-web 2.0 technology, and d) universities show in some cases a culture of aversion to innovation and entrepreneurship.
The adoption of a Web 2.0 approach to learning in universities is a complex process confronting important technological, managerial and human barriers. For these reasons, the design of a set of objectives and a strategy accepted and promoted by the managers, especially those in charge of knowledge management, is absolutely needed. This first step requires in many cases radical cultural changes for people used to work and make decisions in a different scenario. The introduction for the Web 2.0 approach to learning in universities must be done through an adaptive strategy, one that may be designed integrating previous experiences of educational, research and business organizations.</swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Juan Freire"/></rdf:_1></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/25cef86e87ffa8a888ad160cee1d35d29/chilluple"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/25cef86e87ffa8a888ad160cee1d35d29/chilluple"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#Misc"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.research.ibm.com/haifa/projects/imt/e_learning/papers/technical_report.pdf"/><swrc:date>Sun Nov 18 21:44:46 CET 2007</swrc:date><swrc:publisher><swrc:Organization swrc:name="IBM Haifa Research Lab"/></swrc:publisher><swrc:title>Blogs for Corporate Learning</swrc:title><swrc:type>Technical Report on Research Activities with Blogs for Learning</swrc:type><swrc:year>2004</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>Fallstudie e-learning edublogging </swrc:keywords><swrc:abstract>This report describes four case studies

their learning experience. The rationale for
the use of blogs is explained, followed by
the case studies, and initial results and
conclusions reached by examining the
usage patterns as well as collecting data
through questionnaires. The report
concludes with a list of features and ideas
for enhancing a blogging environment for
learning. Although proving the benefits of
blogs requires longer periods and larger
groups of people, user responses indicate
that the potential of blogs for learning is
clear and deserves attention.</swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Michal Jacovi"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Elad Shahar"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Vladimir Soroka"/></rdf:_3></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2ca0fab1fe857c0d8e49aec19369e12f1/chilluple"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/2ca0fab1fe857c0d8e49aec19369e12f1/chilluple"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#InCollection"/><swrc:date>Thu Nov 15 16:24:52 CET 2007</swrc:date><swrc:address>Wiesbaden</swrc:address><swrc:booktitle>Internet - Bildung - Gemeinschaft.</swrc:booktitle><swrc:key>Jörissen 2007 1401</swrc:key><swrc:pages>203-225</swrc:pages><swrc:publisher><swrc:Organization swrc:name="VS Verlag für Sozialwissenschaften"/></swrc:publisher><swrc:title>Neue Bildungskulturen im "Web 2.0": Artikulation, Partizipation, Syndikation</swrc:title><swrc:year>2007</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>Medienbildung Medienpädagogik _medpaed2.0 e-learning edublogging lernen web2.0 </swrc:keywords><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="Web20" swrc:key="shorttitle"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Benjamin Jörissen"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Winfried Marotzki"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Friederike von Gross"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Winfried Marotzki"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Uwe Sander"/></rdf:_3></rdf:Seq></swrc:editor></rdf:Description></rdf:RDF>
