During our recent investigation into these types of systems, we discovered a simple but remarkably effective algorithm for converting a large corpus of tags annotating objects in a tagging system into a navigable hierarchical taxonomy of tags. We first discuss the algorithm and then present a preliminary model to explain why it is so effective in these types of systems.</swrc:abstract><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="3" swrc:key="priority"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:Field swrc:value="739394" swrc:key="citeulike-article-id"/></swrc:hasExtraField><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Paul Heymann"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Hector Garcia-Molina"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description></rdf:RDF>
