Using the correlation measure, we compare dependency relations of a candidate answer and mapped question phrases in sentence with the corresponding relations in question. Different from previous studies, we propose an approximate phrase mapping algorithm and incorporate the mapping score into the correlation measure. The correlations are further incorporated into a Maximum Entropy-based ranking model which estimates path weights from training. Experimental results show that our method significantly outperforms state-ofthe-art syntactic relation-based methods by up to 20% in MRR.</swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Dan Shen"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Dietrich Klakow"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/279bc05bc334f9825d321071ca3825244/diego_ma"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/279bc05bc334f9825d321071ca3825244/diego_ma"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#Article"/><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.let.rug.nl/~gosse/papers.html"/><swrc:date>Tue Sep 15 17:22:44 CEST 2009</swrc:date><swrc:journal>Traitement Automatique des Langues (TAL)</swrc:journal><swrc:number>3</swrc:number><swrc:pages>15-39</swrc:pages><swrc:title>Linguistic Knowledge and Question Answering</swrc:title><swrc:volume>46</swrc:volume><swrc:year>2005</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>question_answering DG </swrc:keywords><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Gosse Bouma"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Ismail Fahmi"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Jori Mur"/></rdf:_3><rdf:_4><swrc:Person swrc:name="Gertjan {van Noord}"/></rdf:_4><rdf:_5><swrc:Person swrc:name="Lonneke {van der Plas}"/></rdf:_5><rdf:_6><swrc:Person swrc:name=" and J{\"o}rg Tiedemann"/></rdf:_6></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/2abdd6c5527ec2ac1864710a6e665b89e/diego_ma"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/2abdd6c5527ec2ac1864710a6e665b89e/diego_ma"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#InProceedings"/><swrc:date>Tue Mar 04 07:52:43 CET 2008</swrc:date><swrc:booktitle>Proceedings of the Workshop on Using Corpora for Natural Language Generation (UCNLG'05) at Corpus Linguistics 2005</swrc:booktitle><swrc:title>Statistically Generated Summary Sentences: A Preliminary Evaluation of Verisimilitude using Precision of Dependency Relations</swrc:title><swrc:year>2005</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>summarisation , DG </swrc:keywords><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Stephen Wan"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Robert Dale"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="Mark Dras"/></rdf:_3><rdf:_4><swrc:Person swrc:name="C{\'e}cile Paris"/></rdf:_4></rdf:Seq></swrc:author></rdf:Description><rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/20165dbba25a1cd2fa846f3dd26a383a4/diego_ma"><owl:sameAs rdf:resource="http://www.bibsonomy.org/uri/bibtex/20165dbba25a1cd2fa846f3dd26a383a4/diego_ma"/><rdf:type rdf:resource="http://swrc.ontoware.org/ontology#Article"/><swrc:date>Tue Jan 29 08:56:36 CET 2008</swrc:date><swrc:journal>Traitement Automatique des Langues</swrc:journal><swrc:number>1</swrc:number><swrc:pages>127-156</swrc:pages><swrc:title>Answer Extraction Using a Dependency Grammar in {ExtrAns}</swrc:title><swrc:volume>41</swrc:volume><swrc:year>2000</swrc:year><swrc:keywords>DG ExtrAns molla_publication </swrc:keywords><swrc:abstract>We report on the implementation of an answer extraction system, ExtrAns, that uses the output of a dependency-based parser and grammar. Recently, constraint programming has evolved into a technology which permits to solve hard industrial scheduling and optimization problems. We argue that existing constraint programming technology can be useful for applications in natural language processing. Some problems whose treatment with traditional methods requires great care to avoid combinatoric explosion of (potential) readings seem to be solvable in an efficient and elegant manner using constraint programming. We illustrate our claim by two recent examples, one from the area of underspecified semantics and one from parsing.</swrc:abstract><swrc:author><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="Alexander Koller"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Joachim Niehren"/></rdf:_2></rdf:Seq></swrc:author><swrc:editor><rdf:Seq><rdf:_1><swrc:Person swrc:name="David Beaver"/></rdf:_1><rdf:_2><swrc:Person swrc:name="Johan van Benthem"/></rdf:_2><rdf:_3><swrc:Person swrc:name="P.
