Large quantities of historical newspapers are being digitized and OCRd. We describe a framework for processing the OCRd text to identify articles and extract metadata for them. We describe the article schema and provide examples of features that facilitate automatic indexing of them. For this processing, we employ lexical semantics, structural models, and community content. Furthermore, we describe visualization and summarization techniques that can be used to present the extracted events.

seekda’s Web Services portal provides a direct access to a robust technology platform enabling search for public Web Services, and in the near future a one-stop-shopping marketplace for services offered by providers from all around the world.

Der Schwerpunkt der Arbeiten von CARMEN liegt auf der Weiterentwicklung der Inhaltserschließung durch neue Verfahrenstechniken mit starken Verbindungen zum Retrieval.

Bisher wird kein direkter Export von MODS unterstützt. Die Metadaten aus Katalogen des GBV ließen sich aber grundsätzlich nach MODS umwandeln, beispielsweise über MARC21.

The creation of the SeeAlso linkserver protocol was occasioned by the need to enrich title views in library catalogues of the German Common Library Network (GBV) with links to additional information. However, instead of integrating those links into title records and tailoring the presentation to our specific OPAC software, we decided to create a general linkserver Web service.

MACS aims to provide multilingual subject access to library catalogues. MACS enables users to simultaneously search the catalogues of the project's partner libraries in the language of their choice (English, French, German). The partners are: the Swiss National Library (SNL), project leader, the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), The British Library (BL) and Die Deutsche Bibliothek (DDB). The project is running under the auspices of the Conference of European National Librarians (CENL). This multilingual search is made possible thanks to the equivalence links created between the three indexing languages used in these libraries: SWD (for German), RAMEAU (for French) and LCSH (for English).

CrissCross ist ein von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) gefördertes und von der Fachhochschule Köln in Kooperation mit der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek (DNB) durchgeführtes Projekt, dessen Ziel die Erstellung eines multilingualen, thesaurusbasierten und benutzergerechten Recherchevokabulars zu heterogen erschlossenen Dokumenten ist. Hierzu werden am Standort Köln alle Sachschlagwörter der Schlagwortnormdatei (SWD) mit Notationen der Dewey-Dezimalklassifikation (DDC) verknüpft. Als Beitrag zum Projekt MACS werden durch die DNB zeitgleich in Fortführung der in MACS entwickelten Methodik SWD-Sachschlagwörter mit ihren Äquivalenten in der englischen Schlagwortsprache Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) und der französischen Schlagwortsprache RAMEAU verbunden.
