Welcome to Linux-VServer.org Linux-VServer provides virtualization for GNU/Linux systems. This is accomplished by kernel level isolation. It allows to run multiple virtual units at once. Those units are sufficiently isolated to guarantee the required security, but utilize available resources efficiently, as they run on the same kernel. This site contains information relating to the use and development of virtual servers based on Linux-VServer. This particular virtual server model is implemented through a combination of "security contexts", segmented routing, chroot, extended quotas and some other standard tools. Note: If this isn't what you are looking for, maybe Linux Virtual Server is.
NxTop delivers secure, controlled desktops to any PC in the form of a virtual desktop or a virtual laptop, greatly reducing the cost and complexity of desktop management and patch management while improving desktop environment security. NxTop provides numerous advantages over traditional VDI solutions.
Using multiple window managers with nested Xserver I use gnome as my default desktop at home and at office. However, my machines have alternate desktop environment such as kde or xfce installed. I use it to test out features of these environment. The normal way to switch to a different desktop is to log out from the current desktop , select a new session from the gdm login window and login again. However, it is possible to open a new desktop environment in a virtual console using xnest nested xserver.
he following will install and configure DRBD, OpenAIS, Pacemaker and Xen on OpenSUSE 11.1 to provide highly-available virtual machines. This setup does not utilize Xen's live migration capabilities. Instead, VMs will be started on the secondary node as soon as failure of the primary is detected. Xen virtual disk images are replicated between nodes using DRBD and all services on the cluster will be managed by OpenAIS and Pacemaker. The following setup utilizes DRBD 8.3.2 and Pacemaker 1.0.4. It is important to note that DRBD 8.3.2 has come a long way since previous versions in terms of compatibility with Pacemaker. In particular, a new DRBD OCF resource agent script and new DRBD-level resource fencing features. This configuration will not work with older releases of DRBD.
n the event that something happens to a Xen virtual machine (VM) that prevents you from starting it, it's a good practice to have the virtual machine storage back end mounted in the Linux file system of the Xen-based server. By doing so, you'll be able to repair the VM quickly and painlessly. In this tip, I'll cover how to do this for physical devices that are used as storage back ends.
QuickSynergy is a graphical interface (GUI) for easily configuring Synergy2, an application that allows the user to share his mouse and keyboard between two or more computers.
OpenVZ and Ubuntu Linux developers on Tuesday will release pre-built Ubuntu virtual machines, designed to allow system administrators to deploy a specialised Ubuntu system in about a minute.
