MUST READ: create an architecture for a Web Service Search Engine that automatically aggregates information from heterogeneous sources. create a service crawler that identifies services and relevant service-related information from the Web. generate semantic service descriptions from diverse sources, especially Web 2.0 services and blogs. build index structures to allow efficient access to services within the repository and develop a matching engine. develop a Web 2.0 portal that provides access to available services while tracking the user behaviour in order to improve the accuracy of both service matching and recommendation process.

is the working title for a modeling and documentation language for mathematics, suited to the habits of mathematicians, to be developed in a project at the University of Vienna. The project complements efforts for formalizing mathematics from the computer science and automated theorem proving perspective. In the long run, the FMathL system might turn into a user-friendly automatic mathematical assistant for retrieving, editing, and checking mathematics (but also computer science and theoretical physics) in both informal, partially formalized, and completely formalized mathematical form.

  • Could act in addition to the ontological structure if needed. Tags could provide a short description type of info or somekind of clustering.

A nice review but maybe obsolete by now (run 2002-2005) One of the biggest problems we nowadays face in the information society is information overload. The Semantic Web aims to overcome this problem by adding meaning to the Web, which can be exploited by software agents to whom people can delegate tasks. The aim of Esperonto is to bridge the gap between the actual World Wide Web and the Semantic Web by providing a service to "upgrade" existing content to Semantic Web content. Ontologies play a key role in this effort, aiming at unifying, bridging and integrating multiple heterogeneous, international and multilingual digital content.

IMUST READ - NFRAWEBS, a European project involving leading authorities on Semantic Web Technologies to develop an application-oriented software toolset for creating, maintaining and executing WSMO-based Semantic Web Services (SWS) within their whole life cycle. This next generation of tools and systems enable software and service providers to build open and extensible development platforms for web service applications. These services will run on Semantic Web initiatives and W3C submissions, such as BPEL4WS, WSMO, WSMX, WSML, SPARQL, RDF, etc. In particular, they will be compliant with WSMO (Web Services Modelling Ontology).

Recent efforts in the area of learning technology have resulted in a considerable improvement in the interoperability of learning resources across different Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Learning Object Repositories (LOR). The central paradigm of such reuse-oriented technology is the notion of learning objects as digital reusable pieces of learning activities or contents. Semantic Web technology is able to provide the required computational semantics for the automation of tasks related to learning objects such as selection or composition.

FUSION aims at the development of an innovative approach, methodology and integration mechanism for the semantic integration of a heterogeneous set of business applications (ERP and CRM applications from different technology providers), platforms and languages within SMEs. FUSION aims at the integration of research activities carried out in the Enlarged Europe in the areas of Business Process Management, Semantic Web and Web Services. FUSION aims at the validation of research results by developing proof-of-concept pilots in collaborative commerce across semantically-enriched supply chains and value networks across the Enlarged Europe. In particular, the FUSION approach, methodology and integration mechanism will facilitate three trans-national cases, each of which has operations spanning the Enlarged Europe.

The Adaptive Services Grid (ASG) approach for semantic service provisioning is a solution to implement agility and adaptiveness promised by Service-oriented Architectures. Based on available standards, a solution for the complete service provisioning lifecycle has been built. A key concept of this solution is the usage of semantic information about services to automatically plan, enact, and monitor service compositions to fulfil user requests.

Service Web 3.0 provides the directives, support and coordination of ongoing research and development in the area of networked service architectures, specifically those that utilize semantic technologies, towards the realization of the Future Internet. Service Web 3.0 provides the foundation for future community research and technological development in the area of large-scale service architectures and the further utility of semantic technologies.

PROPOSED BY REVIEWERS:Aims at realizing a world where billions of parties are exposing and consuming services via advanced Web technology: the main objective of the project is to provide a comprehensive framework that integrates complementary and evolutionary technical advances (i.e., SOA, context management, Web principles, Web 2.0 and semantic technologies) into a coherent and domain-independent service delivery platform.

aims to support the development and realization of enterprise systems based on a Semantically-enabled Heterogeneous service Architecture (SHA). SHA extends Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) with semantics and heterogeneous infrastructures (Web services, Agents, Semantic Web Services, P2P and Grid) under a unified service oriented approach. To achieve this the consortium of the SHAPE project will develop a Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) tool-supported methodology and will take an active role in the standardization of metamodels and languages for SHA.
