The genesis of the problems faced by the library, which is named after the legendary freedom fighter and scholar Lala Hardayal ( 1884- 1939) – which has a unique collection of more than 170000 books in Hindi, English, Urdu, Arabic, Persian and Sanskrit. ..one of the few Libraries in the world with a collection of at least 8000 rare books ((https://amritmahotsav.nic.in/district-reopsitory-detail.htm?2771)) – has its roots in the bickering among people who are supposed to manage the institution. What one learns that the intransigence shown by someone owning allegiance to Hindutva Supremacist viewpoint has precipitated this unforeseen situation (https://www.telegraphindia.com/opinion/should-i-have-made-your-wife-cm-instead-of-rabri-lalu-yadavs-jab-at-nityanand-rai/cid/1980987)
May be as you read these lines, wiser sense might have prevailed there and the library might be slowly limping back to normalcy.

Nature, July 2019. -- A giant data store quietly being built in India could free vast swathes of science for computer analysis — but is it legal? A giant data store quietly being built in India could free vast swathes of science for computer analysis —but is it legal?
Over the past year, Malamud has — without asking publishers — teamed up with Indian researchers to build a gigantic store of text and images extracted from 73 million journal articles dating from 1847 up to the present day. The cache, which is still being created, will be kept on a 576-terabyte storage facility at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi. “This is not every journal article ever written, but it’s a lot,” Malamud says. It’s comparable to the size of the core collection in the Web of Science database, for instance. Malamud and his JNU collaborator, bioinformatician Andrew Lynn, call their facility the JNU data depot.

Mishi Chowdhary: It's perfectly possible for a contact tracing app to help us fight COVID-19 while taking our right to privacy seriously. That is what we should demand.
To sum up India’s current situation, the government can order its citizens to use any piece of software without taking any responsibility for its accuracy, security or privacy architecture; it can eliminate the entire system of standards and architecture of the internet by moving fast, breaking things and as its an emergency, citizens can never ask for any review or rights but must feel very proud about this feat.

India is pursuing nuclear-armed submarines and ICBMs. It could save money, bolster its global image, and still credibly deter its rivals by doubling down on its existing missile forces instead.

Today, algorithms decide who should get a job, which part of a city needs to be developed, who should get into a college, and in the case of a crime, what should be the sentence. It is not super intelligence of robots that is the threat to life as we know it, but machines taking over thousands decisions that are critical to us and deciding social outcomes.
Locally known as Rampal power project, a joint venture between India and Bangladesh, it has created tremendous resentment in the affected areas. In a chat with Nidheesh J. Villatt, Professor Muhammad says the project will destroy the Sundarbans. He says Indian and Bangladeshi big business would make a huge profit at the cost of the camaraderie between the people of two countries.

"As long as all NSG members reach a consensus over how a non-NPT member could join the NSG, and India promises to comply with stipulations over the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons while sticking to its policy of independence and self-reliance, China could support New Delhi’s path toward the club."
When 40-year-old Faisal Khan, a devout Muslim, decided to revive an organisation, that had been active in the pre-Independence days in the field of social reform, about five years back, he had something different in mind. It was serving the humanity through propagating the message of peace and love and bringing together the Hindus and Muslims in the country.

NET NEUTRALITY : As most public services go digital, it makes sense to ensure access to them free of data charges, as a citizen's right.
In its ruling on “Prohibition of Discriminatory Tariffs for Data Services”, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has held that data services over the Internet are a commodity business whereby data cannot be discriminated on the basis of the content it carries. It also asserted its regulatory control over data services, which would be provided as a regulated public utility.
This is a historic decision setting a high bar for maintaining complete Net Neutrality, and thus sanctifying the Internet in the Indian law, as a model of equal and non-discriminatory communication, information-exchange and networking.
