Papers which describe novel theory and its application to practice are welcome, as are those which illustrate the transfer of techniques from other disciplines. Reports of carefully executed experimental work, which is soundly interpreted are also welcome. The overall focus is on original and rigorous research results which have generic significance. Within the Chemical Engineering Journal, the Environmental Chemical Engineering section presents papers dealing with topics in environmental chemical and process engineering. Treatment and environmental separation processes, environmental process control, measurement and simulation, clean process technology and waste minimization include the topics which are covered. Papers in which knowledge from other disciplines is integrated with chemical engineering are especially welcome. Within the Chemical Engineering Journal, the Chemical Reaction Engineering section presents papers on a wide range of topics including reaction kinetics, applied catalysis, simulation and optimization of different types of reactors, unsteady-state reactors, multiphase reactors, and fundamental investigations of the processes of heat, mass and momentum transfer that take place along with chemical reaction. COFE has sequential solution algorithm using automatic tear streams. COFE displays properties of streams, deals with unit-conversion and provides plotting facilities. TEA - COCO's Thermodynamics for Engineering Applications, is based on the code of the thermodynamic library of ChemSep and includes a data bank of over 190 commonly used chemicals. The package exhibits more than 100 property calculation methods with their analytical or numerical derivatives. COUSCOUS - the CAPE-OPEN Unit-operations Simple package is shipped with COCO. It contains a splitter, a mixer, heat-exchangers, pumps and reactors amongst other unit operations. ChemSep-LITE, a limited version of ChemSep with a maximum of 10 components and 150 stages, can serve as an equilibrium distillation unit operation in COCO. A wide range of equipment will be relevant to Applied Thermal Engineering, such as heat exchangers (compact and advanced designs), heat pumps and refrigeration plant, heat pipes, combined heat and power and advanced cycles, heat transfer enhancement as applied to the above, and other unit operations involving thermal engineering procedures.
