By calculating every impact in watts, all the varied choices made in your life can be directly compared - including actions that happen on markedly different timescales. Measuring in power rather than carbon emissions also recognizes that there are not enough remaining fossil fuel sources to support the energy needs of the world. Not limited to activities, you can also determine the impact of your belongings through the embodied energy database. WattzOn is opening up the assumptions, the methodology, the mathematics, and the data to the entire community -- we can argue, modify, tweak, and eventually reach consensus so that WattzOn's power estimates improve over time.

It’s all free, as in both “freedom of speech” and “almost totally free beer.” We invite you to build on what we’ve started to create more free value. The Social Media Classroom (we’ll call it SMC) includes a free and open-source (Drupal-based) web service that provides teachers and learners with an integrated set of social media that each course can use for its own purposes—integrated forum, blog, comment, wiki, chat, social bookmarking, RSS, microblogging, widgets , and video commenting are the first set of tools. The Classroom also includes curricular material: syllabi, lesson plans, resource repositories, screencasts and videos. The Collaboratory (or Colab), is what we call just the web service part of it. Educators are encouraged to use the Colab and SMB materials freely, and we host your Colab communities if you don’t want to install your own. (See this for an explanation of who “we” are).

From this wiki you can manage politician's contact information, and more importantly, create and manage the causes that Cause Caller offers activists. This wiki is also meant to be a free and well maintained database of public official's content information available in the RDF format. This means that you can use the data in Cause Caller's database for your own projects by using the Special:ExportRDF page to export structured data that you can query using languages like SPARQL. It also means that this wiki is part of the Semantic Web.
