Abstract
This report describes the manner in which extreme natural conditions in Rumania (floods, earthquakes. wind
and ice) have influenced, throughout many years, the approach towards the design of installations in the electrical
network. We consider that we have reached optimum solutions. A description is also given of the design philosophy
and of the measures which were adopted to limit damages and to reduce the non-availability periods of installations
damaged by conditions exceeding the statutory limits.
