Abstract
Starting from their particular problems and
constraints the main aspects of substation planning
in developing countries are examined. The
needs are different from those of the industrialised
countries and thus different approaches
are required. Based on these aspects a design
philosophy for HV substations is stated and two
possible arrangements are outlined.
