Open Source Software and Some Licensing Implications to Consider

. International Journal On Advances in Systems and Measurements, (December 2016)

Abstract

As more and more areas of science make use of open source software, legal research seeks to reconcile various open source licenses (OSS) (which may be used in a single research project) and explores solutions to allow exploitation of software outcomes in a license-compliant way. In this paper, we consider some licensing implications of open source licenses along with solutions on how to distribute software developments in a license compatible way. The steps undertaken in course of defining a license and checking license compatibility are demonstrated by a case study.
