The purpose of this paper is to more formally address this question, and, more specifically, to determine the main variables associated with the ranking of economics journals. <BR> Ranking journals helps one to understand an important component of the communications network among economists. This study has addressed a related question concerning why economists rank their journals as they do. The findings are plausible and make an interesting story in themselves. <BR> American economists are inclined to rank American journals higher than Foreign ones, but this bias extends to several large and well established English journals. Circulation appears to be the most important determinant of a foreign journal's rank but American economists are biased against foreign-language journals.
