Ontology-based integration for Sharing Knowledge over the Web
D. Bianchini, and V. Antonellis. DIWeb2004. Third International Workshop on Data Integration over the Web, Proceedings, (2004)
Abstract
In this paper, we propose a methodology developed in theframework of the VISPO project for engineering a three-layer ontology, based on the conceptualization, integration, synthesis and categorizationof XML data descriptions provided by a number of sources in a virtualdistrict, where di®erent enterprises cooperate for business purposes. On-tologies are proposed as an unifying framework for di®erent viewpointsby providing a shared understanding in a subject domain. Our method-ology generates an ontology organized into concepts and concept rela-tionships at di®erent levels of detail, to provide multiple, uni¯ed views ofthe datasources containing heterogeneous information about the domainof interest.
