Abstract
Advances in micro fabrication and communication techniques have led to unimaginable proliferation of WSN applications. Research is focussed on reduction of setup operational energy costs. Bulk of operational
energy costs are linked to communication activities of WSN. Any progress towards energy efficiency has a potential of huge savings globally.
