Abstract

Experimental investigation of the relationship between iceloads and the normal meteorological parameters. Establishing statistical information about frequency and duration of icing situations, based on weather statistics from normal weather stations. Developing empirical formulae for iceloads as function of meteorological parameters. Establishing probability distributior.s of ultimate iceloads, depending on geographical site and height. This combined with detailed examination of the line route by experienced meteorologists as a basis for deciding the design iceloads along the route.
