Zusammenfassung

We proposed recently LOCARN: an alternative network architecture providing a very simple packet connectivity layer, which is able to self-adapt its routing paths to both the effective traffic fluctuations and network resource changes. In this paper, we propose two design improvements in order to increase the number of communications supported within a domain. Then, we estimate by simulation the gain of the two proposals by quantifying the overheads involved by the new design in comparison to the initial one. The obtained results are very encouraging, and allow to extend significantly the potential of the LOCARN use cases. Moreover, the second proposal permits to extend the architecture potential by providing this latter the technical mean to achieve point-to-multipoint transmissions without adding any external multicast protocol.
