They are studied by means of careful reading and categorisation into groups developed by Davies (2003), who used the groups for her study of culture-specific items in the Harry Potter series. The aim is to answer the following research questions: how have the names been translated exactly and what is the translation like in comparison to other translations of names in the novel.
