SHORT-CIRCUIT CURRENTS IN THE INTERCONNECTING NETWORK OF WESTERN EUROPE

, , and .
(1985)

Abstract

The interconnecting network of Western Europe comprises the AC-systems of 12 countries. Though the individual utilities are responsible for the planning and operation of their networks, the interconnected operation of the total 190,000 MW system is coordinated by the Union for the Coordination of the Production and Transport of Electric power (UCPTE). Joint short-circuit calculations are carried out regularly. A description of the calculation method is given, as well as a survey of recent results. In addition, an enquiry about figures of the present situation is pointed out. The prospects of the development of these figures in Western Europe in the nineties are presented and discussed.
