Abstract

This chapter reviews the printhead technologies and configurations needed to solve even the most demanding industrial applications. The Galaxy, Nova, and S‐Class were early jetting assemblies that used digital inkjet technology to print a digital image on a substrate. Silicon Micro Electro‐Mechanical Systems or SiMEMS are at the core of FUJIFILMs latest printhead technology. The Q‐Class, Starfire, and Samba product families all feature Dimatix VersaDrop jetting technology. The Q‐Class family of printheads includes the Sapphire QS, the Emerald QE, and the Polaris PQ. RediJet jetting technology encompasses several innovations, including nozzle plate design, special conformal and nonwetting surface coatings, enhanced onhead electronics, continuous ink recirculation at the nozzle, and waveforms tailored to specific fluids. FUJIFILM Dimatix has always strived to stay at the forefront of development in the drop on demand inkjet business.
