Line costs and dimensions are optimized in relation to interference parameters: for each given set of interference values, the study determines the characteristics of the minimum cost line design,out of the many possible line configurations producing the same environmental impact. An analysis of the extra-costs required to lower audible noise and electric field at ground, in the case of a UHV line adopting the non conventional "circus" tower, is reported, together with a discussion of the results.
