Abstract

This article explores how the recession is affecting children in care proceedings. It focuses on three specific key areas: the impact it is having on their families; the impact it has on the services vulnerable families rely on; and the impact on children in court proceedings. The article covers in more depth implications of the Legal Aid Bill and potential changes to the National Youth Advocacy Service, court welfare services, judicial satisfaction and independence of representation.
