Abstract
Access to technology has grown rapidly in American schools during the last decade.
Today, nearly all schools own computers and have access to Internet resources, and students are
using school computers in more ways than ever before. And yet controversy still swirls around
the use of computers in schools. At the eye of the storm are questions about effectiveness. Are
schools doing a better job because of their embrace of technology? Can schools improve their
teaching effectiveness by investing more heavily in technology? How can schools best use
technology? Questions spring up on all sides.
