Abstract
For a new 380 kV double circuit (2x2650 MVA) overhead line that will run through a densely
populated part in the Netherlands, TenneT TSO choose to develop a line that would mix a
high aesthetic appearance, a narrow EM-field and proven technology in line engineering. The
result is a bipole tower concept with horizontal-V's for the bundle attachment. This article
describes some of the considerations when specifying the mechanical capacity of the towers
and the insulator sets. It may serve as a challenge to use new concepts to meet changing
requirements from society towards overhead line building.
