Hydra is an ecosystem of components that lets institutions deploy robust and durable digital repositories (the body) supporting multiple “heads”: highly feature-rich digital asset management applications and tailored workflows. Its principal platforms are the Fedora Repository, Blacklight, Solr, and Ruby on Rails.
ActiveFedora- Built on RubyFedora, this ruby gem provides an active record oriented way of working with objects in Fedora
ESciDoc - An eResearch environment developed specifically for use by scientific and scholarly communities.
The Fascinator - A front end to Fedora commons repository that uses Solr to handle all browsing, searching, and security.
Hydra - Will provide a "Lego Set" of web services and templates that can be used for a wide range of content management workflows. (Not released yet but coming soon.)
Islandora - A Drupal module that allows users to view and manage objects stored in Fedora.
RODA - An OAIS-compliant, service-oriented digital repository system designed to preserve government authentic digital objects.
eSciDoc is as a joint project of the Max Planck Society and FIZ Karlsruhe, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), aimed at building an e-research platform for multi-disciplinary research organizations.
Islandora is an open source project underway at the Robertson Library at the University of Prince Edward Island. Islandora combines the Drupal and Fedora software applications to create a robust digital asset management system that can be used for any requirement where collaboration and digital data stewardship, for the short and long term, are critical.
Fez, a flexible, digital repository and workflow management system, was released in November 2005 by UQ staff under open source license. The site for downloading software and keeping on top of software development is http://sourceforge.net/projects/fez/. The Fez software is PHP- and MySQL-based and works as a front-end and administration tool using Fedora (http://www.fedora.info/), an excellent tool for managing objects and the relationships between them. In a Fedora repository, objects can be communities, collections, and records. Records can belong to both collections and communities. Details of the software, documentation and further planned development is at http://www.library.uq.edu.au/escholarship/
Moksha is a platform for creating live collaborative applications. It provides a layer of cohesion and collaboration between existing applications, services, and communities.
